During a press conference held in Minna, Niger, on Tuesday, the Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO), Prof. Dantani Wushishi, declared that the results of the 2023 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) were notably superior compared to previous years.

According to Wushishi's analysis, a total of 737,308 individuals, accounting for 61.60 percent of the entire applicant pool, achieved a minimum of five credits, encompassing both Mathematics and English Language.

According to Wushishi, a comprehensive count of 1,196,985 individuals participated in the examination. Among them, 616,398 were male and 580,587 were female. Out of the total number of applicants, 1,013,611 achieved a minimum of five credits, regardless of their performance in English Language and Mathematics. This figure corresponds to 84.68 percent of the total candidates.

The internal examination for the 2023 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) was administered over a period of five weeks, starting from Monday, July 10 and concluding on Friday, August 11. Subsequently, the process of evaluating and grading the examination papers began on August 30 and concluded on September 15.

According to the individual, the timely issuance of the 2023 Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE) results was driven by the management's objective of ensuring the availability of comprehensive outcomes.

According to the speaker, a total of 1,542 candidates participated in the assessment, with 913 candidates experiencing hearing impairment and 162 candidates experiencing visual impairment.

As per his statement, other candidates encompass 103 individuals with albinism, 61 individuals with autism, 149 individuals with impaired vision, 154 individuals with adermatoglyphia, and various others.

According to Wushishi, the incidence of candidates engaging in different forms of malpractice in 2023 amounted to 12,030, which accounts for 0.07% of the total. This figure is in contrast to the 13,594 cases reported in 2022, which represented 0.13% of the total.

According to the speaker, the total count of individuals engaged in different types of misconduct in the year 2023 is 12,030, which accounts for 0.07 percent. This figure is in contrast to the previous year, 2022, where the count was 13,594, representing 0.13 percent. The difference between these two figures is approximately 61.60 percent.

According to Wushishi, it was observed that a total of 93 schools were implicated in widespread cheating. These schools will be summoned for deliberation by the council, following which suitable penalties will be imposed.

Additionally, it was said that a total of 52 supervisors were suggested for inclusion on a blacklist as a result of their inadequate supervision and involvement in facilitating misconduct throughout the test process.

According to his statement, it was mentioned that Abia state has the largest proportion of applicants who achieved five credits or more, including Mathematics and English Language, with a percentage of 85.53. Additionally, Adamawa state ranked second with a percentage of 51.5, while Kebbi state had the lowest performance with a percentage of 0.310.
