Agbakoba criticizes the media and "armchair" attorneys over discussions around Tinubu's CSU certificate.

Olisa Agbakoba (SAN), the ex-president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), has called for an end to the ongoing media discussions about the suspected certificate forgery of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Supreme Court is currently reviewing the outcome of the February 25 poll, in which Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is challenging the victory of Tinubu.

The release of Tinubu's academic records, confirming his graduation from Chicago State University (CSU), was mandated by a US court in the northern district of Illinois last week.

Atiku has formally sought permission from the Supreme Court to submit his evidence obtained from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) against Tinubu.

The development has sparked intense discussions in both traditional and digital media platforms.

Agbakoba expressed the view that instead of individuals offering personal judgments on the topic, it would be more prudent for all parties involved to exercise patience and await the final ruling of the Supreme Court.

The excessive and dissonant array of opinions regarding the Tinubu/Atiku certificate issue has reached an uncontrollable level. The individual expressed concern on the escalating tensions in Nigeria due to the proliferation of baseless legal opinions from those who lack professional expertise in the field.

Kindly refrain from expressing personal thoughts and perspectives until a verdict is reached by the Supreme Court. I feel a profound sense of humiliation upon witnessing the presence of legal professionals engaging in televised debates concerning the advantages and disadvantages surrounding the Chicago State University issue. This response lacks utility in providing assistance.

I express my disapproval towards media outlets that engage in the practice of discussing and evaluating the CSU subject through televised and print platforms.

Agbakoba implored President Yakubu Maikyau of the Nigerian Bar Association to publicly reprimand lawyers who violate ethical standards by utilizing the media as a substitute for a judicial forum.

May we kindly cease the process of increasing the temperature within our nation? It is imperative that we grant the Supreme Court of Nigeria the authority to issue a legally enforceable judicial declaration that applies to the entire populace. The dissemination of this public discourse should be brought to an end.
