On Tuesday, Usman Ododo, the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, undertook a visit of condolence to the family of Khadijat Yahaya, a female member of the APC who reportedly lost her life due to the actions of individuals affiliated with Murtala Yakubu, the gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kotonkarfe.
The candidate's initial visit was to the Palace of the Ohimege of Kotonkarfe, HRM Alh. Abdulrazak Isa Koto, during which the candidate conveyed feelings of sorrow at the passing of Khadijat. The individual characterized the deceased Khadijat as a "woman who advocated for peace and expressed a strong desire to witness progress in the region of Kotonkarfe."
He made a solemn commitment to ensure the attainment of justice for the deceased individual and her family.
According to Kingsley Fanwo, the spokesperson of the Kogi State APC Campaign Council, the party had already halted all campaign operations as a mark of respect for the deceased Khadijat.
Alhaji Ododo, residing at the late Khadijat's residence, conveyed his profound astonishment and extended his condolences to the bereaved family. He indicated that the entire political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), was collectively grieving the loss of Khadijat.
The local government party leader, Hon. Saliu Akawu, expressed gratitude to the candidate for the governorship for their visit.
Representing the family, the Honorable Angulu expressed that the actions of Ododo demonstrate his qualities as a compassionate leader who consistently empathizes with his constituents.
According to Angulu, the deceased Khadijat was an individual characterized by a strong inclination towards peace, tragically having her life prematurely terminated by malevolent individuals.
The Ohimege of Kotonkarfe expressed gratitude to Governor Yahaya Bello for the restoration of electricity in the Kogi Local Government Area.
