Olu of Warri declares that traditional thrones and Christianity do not conflict as Soun of Ogbomoso arrives.

Ogiame Atuwatse III, the reigning monarch of Warri, has refuted the notion of any discord between the traditional monarchy and the Christian faith.

The monarch expressed this sentiment during his audience with the Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, Orumogege III, who was previously affiliated with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, at his residence in the Warri Kingdom.

The installation of the new Soun took place on September 8, 2023, following the passing of Oba Jimoh Oyewumi on December 12, 2021.

According to a statement released on Monday by Adeniyi Ifetayo, the Media Consultant for Olu, it was observed by the king that Traditional thrones and Christianity are not inherently contradictory.

Furthermore, he refuted the notion that conventional establishments were inherently associated with irrational beliefs and the veneration of man-made artifacts and logical deductions.

However, it should be highlighted that these two institutions have the potential to fulfill complementary roles that can significantly contribute to the overall growth and development of the nation.

The Olu expressed his profound joy at the visit, asserting that the Soun's decision to prioritize the Warri kingdom as his initial destination was guided by divine intervention, similar to the divine ordination of his ascension to the throne.

He asserted that individuals have a moral obligation to utilize their leadership positions for the betterment of their communities, particularly in light of the rapidly evolving technology-driven society.

The monarch asserts that there exists a sacred duty to assume a position of leadership characterized by righteousness, justice, and fairness. The concept of equity is emphasized as being more than mere theoretical concepts, but rather as powerful and persuasive principles.

Can we guide our society towards tangible, effective progress in terms of material, mental, and spiritual development only if we possess an unwavering dedication to these principles?

According to his statement, there exists a shared tradition between the Warri traditional throne and the Ogbomoso traditional throne. He suggests that these two entities should engage in collaborative efforts in areas of common interest, with the aim of benefiting their respective subjects.

The Soun of Ogbomoso emphasized the importance of implementing "cultural diplomacy for Development" in his speech. This approach aims to leverage traditional institutions as influential collaborators in the pursuit of rapid progress and advancement for the community.

The objective of myself and Your Majesty Ògíamẹ̀ is to assume leadership roles in employing a strategy known as cultural diplomacy for development. This approach aims to convert our traditional institutions into influential collaborators in the pursuit of expeditious progress and advancement for our populace.

The exceptional performance of Your Majesty as the principal cultural representative of the Iwere community is currently observable within our nation and on an international scale.

Those who possess the ability to recognize this virtue, including ourselves and others, can perceive how it can effectively draw in the much-needed economic advancement for your population.

The author expressed that the noble feelings observed throughout Your Majesty's reign have influenced the decision of the kingdom of Warri to be the initial destination in their endeavor to establish friendly and collaborative relationships. This decision aligns with their holy responsibility of leading the people of Ogbomoso Land.

The visit was attended by Rear Admiral Jacob Ajani (retired), Prof. Shola Adepoju (retired), Air Vice Marshall Bolaji Adigun (retired) - Akogun of Ogbomoso Land, and Pastor Agu Irukwu.

During the visit, the monarch made an announcement on the provision of scholarships to ten students, consisting of six girls and four boys, hailing from the Warri kingdom in Ogbomoso. These scholarships would cover their education from Junior to Senior Secondary School, commencing in the upcoming academic session.

Your Majesty, I respectfully propose the initiation of this novel reality by extending an invitation to your esteemed self to consider the selection of ten Ìtsẹ̀kírì youngsters, including four boys and six girls, to partake in a fully-funded scholarship program at Ogbomoso. This program would encompass their education from Junior Secondary School (JSS) to Senior Secondary School (SSS), commencing from the upcoming academic session. We express our sincere aspiration that Your Majesty will reciprocate this gift, so facilitating the commencement of the educational exchange and solidifying the bond between us as an initial measure.

I would like to express my gratitude for the considerable benevolence exhibited through the outstanding cordiality we have experienced today. Your Majesty Ògíamẹ̀, we eagerly anticipate your esteemed presence as an esteemed guest in Ogbomoso for the ceremonial coronation rituals. The monarch reached a conclusion.
