FG: Abuja-Lagos highway will be completed in 2027.

According to the Federal Government, the proposed Abuja-Lagos expressway will be finished by 2027.

In an interview with reporters on Saturday in Lagos, Minister of Works Dave Umahi said that the proposed 470-kilometer motorway will endure 100 years.

He added that the road would run through Kogi, Ekiti, Oyo, Lagos, Ogun, Niger, Kwara, and the Federal Capital Territory, or FCT, and that it would be constructed by a private sector partnership at no expense to the Federal Government.

When I first presented this to the general public, many skeptics argued that it was impossible. It is impossible to travel from Abuja to Lagos in four and a half hours when it takes 14 hours. That is President Tinubu's rekindled hope.

"I have been given permission by the President to expedite this initiative. This project will have two lanes, but each lane will have two carriageways and be 14 meters long.

"This expressway will be finished in four years and have a life shelf of 100 years. We are merely offering guidance rather than contributing any kobo to the initiative.
