SP Odiko MacDon, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Command, made this announcement in a statement made accessible to journalists in Uyo on Thursday.
According to MacDon, the Command received a distress call concerning an armed robbery incident on September 19 at around 1:50 a.m. in the Uyo Local Government Area near Udoette School Road, UNIUYO via Ikpa road area, Ikot Udoro and surroundings.
He said that after receiving the distress call, members of the command's Quick Response Unit sprang into action, and when the Armed Robbers spotted the police, they allegedly engaged them in a gunfight.
According to the PRO, two of the known robbers were killed during the gunfight, and one Godswill Isaac was taken into custody.
He detailed some of the items taken from the individuals who had been apprehended, including four handguns built locally, 15 live rounds, two enlarged rounds, a big iron cutter, two machetes, and a dagger.
Two plasma televisions, one woofer MP3, one HP laptop, ten Android phones, five smaller phones, N15,700 in cash, and eight dollars round out the list of further stuff.
According to MacDon, the majority of the victims had gone to the police headquarters to be identified and get their things.
The PRO also reported that members of the command's anti-kidnapping squad had detained two wanted armed robbers in the state.
Gospel Effiong, also known as Python, and Solomon Okon, also known as Eblem, were detained for alleged robbery and rape, according to MacDom, who provided their identities.
He claimed that during questioning, both suspects admitted to being part of a robbery group that preyed on unwary commuters in tricycles and minibuses in Uyo and the surrounding areas.
The commissioner of police in Akwa Ibom, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, advised criminal groups living or operating in the state to stop what they were doing or prepare to be flushed out, according to MacDon.
He cited the CP as adding that it was the command's responsibility to maintain Akwa Ibom secure.
He said the command was still steadfast in its resolve to purge the state of criminal elements. (NAN)
