According to iGONG, on September 12, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal, which was in session in Ikeja, Lagos State, ordered a run-off election for the Eti-Osa House of Representatives seat.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, was mandated by the tribunal to hold a second election in the constituency's 32 Polling Places within 90 days.
Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party, LP, had already been named the election's victor by INEC when the PDP candidate filed a lawsuit citing election violations.
On Monday of last week, after ruling on the case, the court annulled Thaddeus' return and commanded more elections.
In response to the tribunal's decision, Banky W said in an interview with Arise TV on Tuesday that voters who were reportedly denied the right to vote during the election now had a second chance to do so.
He claims that due to voter suppression, vote rigging, and other electoral irregularities, around 29,000 eligible voters were denied their constitutional rights.
"I am grateful that the tribunal agreed that every Voice Deserves to be heard and every voice deserves to be counted when it comes to the subject of electoral processes," he said.
"What we observed in Eti-Osa—and it is likely reflected in every other region of the nation—was that there were a number of polling places where elections were not held.
"Voter suppression, intimidation, and violence occurred in several locations, and when INEC officers visited those locations, no ballots were present.
According to our estimations, around 29,000 persons were unable to exercise their fundamental right to vote.
"I'm pleased that the panel thought our case had validity. Those whose rights were denied now get a second chance.
