Terrorists abduct a VON correspondent in Zamfara and demand a ransom of N1,000,000

Hamisu Damgipga, the Zamfara State Correspondent for Violence Voice of Nigeria, VON, was kidnapped by gunmen on Sunday night who were thought to be terrorists.

His release is currently being sought after by the crooks for a ransom of one million niara.

The victim's brother, known as Damgipga junior, verified the occurrence and claimed that the journalist had been abducted at his home in Gusau's Samaru neighborhood.

The Secretariat of the Correspondents chapel was stormed by family members and neighbors, according to the iGONG, to report their relative's abduction.

They also provided journalists with text messages from the Bandits demanding payment of one million Naira by this Friday or earlier.

When reached, the State Police Command's spokesman, ASP Yazeed Abdulahi, verified the occurrence and said that the people involved were not bandits but rather criminals looking for work.

He claimed that the command's anti-violence squad had been sent to the region to secure his release, despite the fact that he is actually in Gusau and not a forest.

This is to demonstrate that the crime was not committed by bandits, as they would have taken the man into the forest if they had.
