The accused whose place of residence was not disclosed, is confronted with two charges, namely Kidnapping and defilement.
According to the prosecution, Mrs. Olawunmi Osibanjo, Amechi allegedly perpetrated the aforementioned offenses on July 24th, at approximately 6:00 p.m., specifically at Evergreen Road, located in the Araromi neighbourhood of Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos.
According to Osibanjo, it has been alleged that Amechi forcibly removed the 16-year-old girl from the care and guardianship of her parents, thereafter detaining her in his residence for a duration of one month.
The prosecutor further asserted that the defendant engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor, hence violating Sections 269 and 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu, refrained from eliciting a plea from the defendant and instead issued an order for his confinement at the Kirikiri correctional facility.
She issued an instruction for the case file to be forwarded to the State Director of Public Prosecutions for consultation.
The presiding judge, Olagbegi-Adelabu, postponed the proceedings until October 12 for the purpose of mentioning the case.
