The Edo State Police Command conducted a parade on the previous day, during which they presented Victor Ochonogor, a 400-Level student at the University of Port Harcourt. Mr. Ochonogor is suspected of engaging in fraudulent online activities commonly referred to as "Yahoo boy." He is said to have fatally stabbed his fiancée at his apartment in Benin City.

The occurrence reportedly took place at the address of 10, Osahon Street, situated in the Ogheghe Quarters, adjacent to Sapele Road in Benin City.

According to reports, Ochonogor and his deceased girlfriend reportedly sought refuge within their residence during the outbreak of violence, prompting their landlord to notify the authorities.

The Commissioner of Police, Dankwara Mohammed, announced during a press conference that the suspect had been presented to the police command. According to Mohammed, the police received a report on the incident at approximately 4 p.m. on August 21, 2023, prompting an immediate response from law enforcement.

The individual identified as Ochonogor, aged 25, claimed that he has been engaged in a romantic relationship with the aforementioned individual for a duration of three years. However, he has been accused by her of engaging in the act of kidnapping. I inquired as to the rationale behind her inclination to accuse me of such actions, given the duration of our relationship.

I categorically deny any involvement in kidnapping, and it is worth noting that several individuals within her family are familiar with my character and reputation.

Ochonogor asserted that his alleged involvement in the demise of his girlfriend was not motivated by jealousy arising from her desire to marry another individual.
