Roma Defender Ndicka Given Green Light to Resume Training

Roma defender Evan Ndicka has been given the green light to return to the pitch after undergoing a series of tests following his collapse during the match against Udinese on April 14. The 24-year-old Ivory Coast and Roma player was carried off on a stretcher after falling backwards on the pitch in the 18th minute, with the game later abandoned at 1-1.

Initial reports indicated that Ndicka’s lungs had collapsed, and he was conscious but in visible pain, rubbing his chest with his right hand as the medical team rushed to his aid. He was discharged from the hospital a day later, and Roma has now confirmed that he has been cleared to resume sporting activity.

According to a statement from the club, Ndicka underwent a series of cardiologic and third-level pulmonary tests, which confirmed the absence of cardiac pathologies and the healing of the minimal pneumothorax (collapsed lung) that occurred during the match. The player is therefore fit to return to training, which will be monitored in the coming days.

This news will come as a huge relief to Roma fans, who were worried about Ndicka’s health after the incident. Manager Daniele de Rossi had previously allayed fears that Ndicka had suffered cardiac issues, revealing that the cause of the Ivory Coast centre-back’s problems was a collapsed lung, which is a painful but treatable condition.

Roma, currently fifth in the Italian top flight with six games to go, will face Napoli on Sunday, and Ndicka’s return to the pitch will be a welcome boost to the team. We wish him a speedy recovery and a successful return to the game!
