TVS Motor hopes its new e-scooter will galvanise India’s electric transport push

TVS Motor Company, a global manufacturer of two- and three-wheelers, has launched its premium TVS X electric scooter that offers users several personalisation possibilities.

The world premiere of the TVS X was held near the base of the Burj Khalifa in Dubai City on August 23, 2023.

Designed, developed, and made in India, the TVS X features a powerful electric motor and advanced battery technology.

As the world increasingly seeks to deploy new sustainable solutions to mitigate the effects of climate change, TVS Motor Company says it is intensifying its product offering on this front while also striving to conform to the Indian government’s aim to promote electric mobility in the most populous nation on earth.

Only in India

Featuring quick acceleration and impressive range, the TVS X will only be available in 15 cities in India from November 2023 onwards.

The electric scooter primarily targets young owners and has a four-element LED headlamp, sequential turn indicators, and programmable light sequences.

Sudarshan Venu, Managing Director of TVS Motor Company, said: “Our dedication to harnessing technology and innovation towards a greener and more sustainable future has brought us this incredibly desirable machine.

“The TVS X is designed for global citizens. It is set to inspire a shift towards premium yet sustainable and technologically advanced mobility solutions.”

Created on an all-new platform, the electric scooter comprises a high-precision cast aluminium alloy frame as its centrepiece, with a mono-cast subframe designed to maximise space and rider convenience.

The minimised drag resistance ensures the scooter faces the least wind resistance, thus enhancing the vehicle’s range efficiency.

The scooter has a unique air-cooled motor, unlike most other forced convection cooling methods, that allows dynamic cooling for critical parts and delivers sustained performance.

Personalisation options

A rider can personalise start-up, shut-down and various other vehicle states.

Everything has been developed in-house by design, engineering, and software teams from vehicle dynamics, control software, powertrain, aluminium frame, and new OS to robust software architecture.

Capable of deploying 11kW of peak power, the electric scooter is reportedly the most influential electric scooter with class-leading acceleration of 0-40kmph in 2.6 seconds and a sustained actual max speed of 105kmph.

This performance is provided by the PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) motor supported by an integrated controller developed in-house.
