Jada Pinkett Smith Says She Never Wanted Hollywood Fame and Will Smith Couldn’t Understand That Because He Wanted To Be A Star

Dancehall artist Popcaan had voiced his support for Will Smith in light of the scrutiny about Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s open marriage which both revealed in 2021 on Red Table Talk. Jada’s revelations about her affair with August Alsina and comments about their long-term relationship and intimate life sparked discussions online and Popcaan made a passionate plea, on Twitter saying, “FREE WILL SMITH!!!”

The Smiths are back the spotlight due to series of interviews given by Jada Pinkett Smith leading up to the released of her Memoir “Worthy” set for released October 17, 2023.

So far the Thousand Kisses singer revealed some gory details of her past life with deceased rapper Tupac, her intense experiences, and her tumultuous relationship with her husband, Will Smith with whom she has been separated from for seven years.

The Set If Off actress describes the “Oscar slap” incident involving her husband, Will Smith, and Chris Rock as one of the most surreal events of her life. She claimed to have had a premonition just before the incident, as Chris Rock’s face appeared on the screen. This premonition left her with a clenched stomach as she knew Rock had taken swipes at her in the past.

“It flashed through my mind as Chris Rock’s face came across the screen. … In fact, my stomach clenched,” she recalls. “He had been known to take swipes at me — and from the Oscar stage no less.”

She concedes in the book published by Harper Collins that Rock’s joke about her hair was “indeed a very light joke,” and her rolling her eyes wasn’t about her: “My heart broke for the many [with alopecia] who live in shame, the children who have committed suicide after being teased. And now the Oscars, in all its political correctness, was telling the world it was okay to make jokes at the expense of a woman suffering from alopecia?”

The memoir reveals that the incident at the Oscars was the culmination of decades of disrespect between Will Smith and Chris Rock.

Pregnancy Premonition:

Jada stated that she knew she was pregnant immediately after having sex with Will Smith. She described the feeling as akin to turning a big round steering wheel in a bank vault, a moment that signaled her pregnancy and says she cried all night long while Will joked about it.

She said Will instructed her to “jump up and down” and “stand on your head,” and called a buddy to laugh about her absurd assertions.

It was true however that she was pregnant and this made Will Smith proposed to her while she was suffering from pregnancy sickness. She expressed being scared but ultimately chose to marry him, even buying her own engagement ring the next day.

“All I could do was cry” during the proposal. “[It] was beautiful and sincere, but I was scared as hell,” she wrote. She also cried at her lavish New Years Eve wedding in 1997 saying as she walked down the aisle, she felt “happy and sad … triumphant and uncertain.”

Separation from Will Smith

While they are still legally married, Jada disclosed that she and Will have been living separately for seven years, making the Oscars incident all the more puzzling to her.

A recurring theme in Jada’s interviews over the last week is her obsession with Tupac Shakur and in the book she shares stories of her close bond with Shakur, recounting the dare she made for him to kiss her, their friendship, and the role he played in her life. The two had filmed a home video at King Dominion karaoke-ing and dancing to DJ Jazzy Jeff & Will Smith’s “Parents Just Don’t Understand”.

Other stories in the book include escaping a violent relationship with a Hollywood type hook-up where Pinkett Smith revealed that she once jumped out of a car and went home to arm herself with a kitchen knife to protect herself from the boyfriend she has “never seen again…alone that is.”

The 52 year old actressdetails her history of suicidal thoughts, particularly at age 21 when her Hollywood career was flourishing. She credits therapy with saving her life and the hallucinogenic drug ayahuasca, introduced to her by her son Jaden.

“The plant medicine helped see the unhealthy self harming though about myself and it opened up a whole new world of healing that I am so grateful for,” she said, adding that the experience is a transformative shift in her perspective, moving from contemplating suicide to embracing life and self-worth.

The irony is, she herself used to sell selling drugs in Baltimore during a difficult period in her life, believing it was her way out of her challenging environment.

“I really wanted the opportunity to share with people sone of the remedies and elixirs I found along the way,” she tells people Magazine.

The memoir highlights the challenges in her marriage to Will Smith, particularly concerning his desire for Hollywood fame, which clashed with her vision of happiness. “He (Will) wanted to be one of the biggest names in Hollywood and was always surprised that I didn’t,” she wrote while also addressing the concept of an open marriage. She also cleared up her “entanglement” with August Alsina, touches on misconceptions about their relationship.

“As time went on, there are different times in my marriage when Will and I decided we are not together. Where wedding tell the public, where I was actually thinking about divorcing, separating and and we have gone and lived serrated lives and I think thats when people might have thought they must have an open relationship and we just didn’t want people to know the dynamic of what as happening between us,” she told People magazine.
