NHL Frozen Frenzy odds, predictions: Picks for Tuesday’s massive slate

The NHL is putting on a show on Tuesday night.

All 32 teams will be in action and the schedule is completely staggered, so no two games get underway at the same time.

It’s an absolute dream scenario for hockey fans (and bettors), so we’ll celebrate by picking out a handful of teams that you can play straight or use to help add some juice to any parlays you may be cooking up for what should be a wild night of hockey.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Columbus Blue Jackets

We’ll get this party started with a play on the under-the-radar Ducks.

Although they’ve won just once this season, the Ducks have had a really tough opening stretch and they’ve lost three games (Dallas, Arizona and Boston) by a combined four goals.

Anaheim has a dynamic young core and enough effective depth players that it should be a feisty underdog.

I don’t think it’s crazy to suggest the Ducks are the better team in this matchup right now, especially with Patrik Laine sidelined for the Jackets.

The pick: Anaheim Ducks ML (+130, PointsBet)

Dallas Stars vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

The market seemed a bit too impressed with the Penguins because of some flashy offseason moves, but it seemed as if the Pens added to their strengths and didn’t improve the defense or goaltending.

The Pens once again are getting strong performances from the likes of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Jake Guentzel and Kris Letang, but the rest of the team is a bit of a mess.

The Stars are considerably better than Pittsburgh right now.

The pick: Dallas Stars ML (-115, Caesars)

Boston Bruins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

This is a dangerous spot for the undefeated Bruins, who just put the finishing touches on a California sweep with a win in Anaheim on Sunday night.

The Bruins now head to Chicago for the final leg of a four-game road trip and will walk into what should be another raucous environment as Connor Bedard plays his second home game in the Windy City.

The Blackhawks have a couple of big upsets in their pocket already this season and are in a good spot to add a third in prime time.

The pick: Chicago Blackhawks ML (+195, FanDuel)

Arizona Coyotes vs. Los Angeles Kings

We tried to warn everybody that these Coyotes were going to be a handful and they’ve been just that to start the season.

The Coyotes are 3-2 and their only two defeats were by a total of two goals and came on the road in a back-to-back against the Rangers and Islanders.

With star players Logan Cooley, Clayton Keller, and Nick Schmaltz in form, the Coyotes have the ability to upset any team on any given night and will have a distinct edge in goal against the Kings.

The pick: Arizona Coyotes (+170, Caesars)

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Vegas Golden Knights

The Golden Knights deserve a lot of credit for their perfect start to the season, but their statistical portfolio suggests that their 6-0-0 record is a bit of smoke and mirrors.

The Flyers, meanwhile, have been one of the most impressive teams through the first two weeks relative to their expectations and should continue to be a feisty underdog.

I can’t think of a better way to cap off this Hockey Holiday than by betting against the undefeated defending Stanley Cup champions with a rebuilding team coached by John Tortorella.

The pick: Philadelphia Flyers ML (+185, Caesars)
