Judiciary watchdog Judges Matter has condemned EFF Leader Julius Malema's attack on magistrate Twanet Olivier last week, calling it a "chilling message" to judicial officers.
Judges Matter said that if Malema's comments were left unchecked, it would send the wrong message about how judicial officers issue judgements to influential figures.
Malema addressed supporters outside the East London Magistrate's Court on Thursday after he lost his bid to get gun charges dismissed when he accused Olivier, the presiding officer, of being captured by President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC.
