Conor McGregor’s NBA Finals sexual assault case closed

UFC star Conor Mcgregor will not face criminal charges following allegations he “violently” sexually assaulted a woman in a bathroom at the NBA Finals in Miami on June 9.

In legal documents obtained by TMZ, prosecutors said there was “insufficient evidence” to prove that 35-year-old McGregor sexually assaulted his accuser, whose name was not made public.

The MMA fighter’s attorney, Barbara Llanes of Gelber Schachter & Greenberg, said Tuesday that she, her client and his family were “pleased” with the outcome.

“After a thorough investigation, including a review of videos and interviews with eyewitnesses, the authorities have concluded that there is no case to pursue against my client, Conor Mcgregor,” Llanes said.

“On behalf of my client, his family and his fans we are pleased this is now over.”

McGregor was accused of “violently” forcing himself on a woman in a VIP men’s bathroom in Kaseya Center following Game 4 of the 2023 NBA Finals between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets, during which he was part of the in-game entertainment.

The woman also accused the NBA and Heat of attempting to cover up the situation, which a league spokesperson denied at the time.

According to the closeout documents, prosecutors said they watched the video footage from the Kaseya Center on the night of the incident, which showed McGregor and his accuser going into a men’s restroom together for approximately five minutes.

After McGregor and the woman exited the bathroom, prosecutors said the CCTV footage showed the two together in a club inside the NBA arena until they left separately around 12:40 a.m.

An attendant who was inside the bathroom at the time told prosecutors that he did see the UFC star and his accuser go into a stall together, but “did not hear any signs of distress or sounds that would corroborate that whatever was occurring was not consensual,” according to the legal documents.

Prosecutors also interviewed the accuser’s friend, who was with her at the game, and said the woman had called her mother that same night “to tell her she had met” McGregor — and did not mention an alleged assault.

“In light of the above facts and circumstances,” prosecutors wrote in the memo, “the State would not be able to satisfy its burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt.”

McGregor denied the allegations since they were made public — one day after the Irishman revealed he and his fiancée Dee Devlin were expecting their fourth child together during an appearance on “Live With Kelly and Mark.”

McGregor was part of the in-game entertainment during Game 4 of the Finals, during which he punched the Heat’s mascot.

McGregor (22-6) has not fought since he suffered a broken leg during a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021

He recently reentered the UFC’s anti-doping drug testing pool.
