LeBron James’ night was over, so he changed out of his uniform and decided to refuel with some food on the bench.

That didn’t sit well with one Lakers great.

Five-time NBA champion Michael Cooper took issue with James eating on the Lakers’ bench during the second half of their preseason game against the Warriors on Friday night.

“I didn’t like that,” Cooper said on the latest episode of his “Showtime with Coop” podcast. “Again, he’s LeBron James, but still, you’ve got to have respect for the game, man. He’s over there — I don’t mind the guy eating, but go eat in the locker room, and then when you come out, you come out and be part of the team, not just sit on the end of the bench eating.”

James, 38, had 12 points, five assists and two rebounds in 18 minutes before he changed into street clothes for the rest of the night.

It was his second appearance of the preseason after scoring 10 points with five assists and three rebounds Oct. 9 against the Nets.

Cooper, 67, played 12 seasons for the Lakers and won five NBA championships in the 1980s.

The guard won Defensive Player of the Year for the 1986-87 season and is an eight-time All-Defensive team honoree.

Cooper was an assistant Coach for the Lakers from 1994-97 before moving over to the Los Angeles Sparks, where he was an assistant and then the head coach for the WNBA team.

He also had stints as an assistant and interim head coach for the Nuggets, head coach for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds in the D-League, a second stint as the Sparks’ head coach, head coach for the USC women’s team and head coach for the Atlanta Dream.

James is set to begin his 21st NBA season next Tuesday against the defending champion Nuggets.
