The KwaZulu-Natal provincial government hired adjunct professor Christian Adendorff, who parted ways with the Nelson Mandela University after he was exposed for plagiarising two international documents and getting paid a handsome R2.2 million for "strategic" work that wasn't originally his.

Adendorff is now the KZN deputy chairperson of the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) commission.

Leon Rolls is the chairperson, with Lungile Zulu, Dr Stella Bvuma and Dr Sibongiseni Thosetjane the commissioners.
