“Emo Jimmy” was just a short-lived phase.

A day after rocking an emo look at Heat media day with long, straightened hair, piercings and his fingernails painted black, Jimmy Butler’s hair was back to being braided during Miami’s practice on Tuesday, where he wore a headband.

“Headband Jimmy is here & ready to hoop,” the Heat wrote on X (formerly Twitter) along with a photo of Butler.

A year after showing up to media day with long dreadlocks, Butler arrived at Heat camp Monday and had fun with the assembled media.

“I’m feeling this,” the 34-year-old told reporters. “I’m very emotional right now. This is my emo state and I like this. This is me. This is how I’ve been feeling as of late.”

Heat coach Erik Spoelstra was asked about Butler’s hair hijinks on Tuesday.

“He likes to come in and keep you guys off balance,” Spoelstra said, according to the Miami Herald. “He came in today ready to work. That’s all that matters to me.”

Butler and the Heat are coming off their second NBA Finals appearance in four years as they fell to the Nuggets last season.

In his fourth season with Miami, Butler averaged 22.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 5.3 assists across 64 regular-season games before posting 26.9 points, 6.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game during the NBA playoffs.
