LeBron James confirmed his son, Bronny James, is making a full recovery after undergoing “successful” surgery following Cardiac Arrest in July, according to The Athletic’s Jovan Buha.

“Bronny is doing extremely well. He has begun his rehab to get back on the floor this season,” LeBron said.

On Monday, LeBron was asked about Bronny’s status during the Los Angeles Lakers Media day.

These questions come just over two months after the 19-year-old suffered cardiac arrest during a workout at the University of Southern California.

LeBron seemed hopeful for his son’s future in basketball as his eldest son started his freshman year at USC this fall.

“We’re happy to see where he is and what his future still has in store for him,” LeBron said.

USC Basketball coach Andy Enfield offered a similar report on the status of the 6-foot-3 guard in late September, according to ESPN.

“Bronny’s doing very well, but we just can’t comment on anything medically,” Enfield said. “He’s going to class and doing extremely well in school, and we’re really excited for him,”

For Bronny the focus is on academics and making a full recovery, after spending three days in the hospital to be diagnosed with “an anatomically and functionally significant congenital heart defect.”

LeBron’s comments on Monday align with the family’s previous statement in August that the heart defect is something “which can and will be treated.”

“We are very confident in Bronny’s full recovery and return to basketball in the very near future,” the statement added. “We will continue to provide updates to the media and respectfully reiterate the family’s request for privacy.”

Bronny was ranked as the No. 19 prospect in the ESPN 100 for the class of 2023 and earned McDonald’s All-American honors his senior season.

He is projected to be a first-round pick in the NBA 2024 Draft.
