SA is battling its worst Bird Flu Outbreak ever.

SA's poultry sector will have two imported vaccines from the European Union in use within the next two to six months as it battles the country's worst-ever bird Flu Outbreak, says the industry's top representative body.

There are also plans to manufacture a vaccine locally, specifically to target the unique and virulent H7 strain ravaging flocks in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Free State, North West and Limpopo, the South African Poultry Association (SAPA) said on Tuesday.

However, the vaccines are not expected to be a quick fix.
