Ex-NYC buildings commish Eric Ulrich set to surrender on bribery, mob charges

Ex-city Department of Buildings commissioner Eric Ulrich is expected to surrender in Manhattan on Wednesday morning to face bribery and mob-related charges, The Post has learned.

The former Queens councilman’s anticipated arrest is part of a wide-ranging corruption probe from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office that has also ensnared a top donor to Mayor Eric Adams, sources said.

Ulrich, 38, will turn himself in at Manhattan Criminal Court in the morning before facing a judge at hearing scheduled for 2:15 p.m., said his lawyer, Sam Braverman.

The former career politician, who was named to head the DOB by Adams in May 2022, resigned in disgrace that November after it was revealed that he was under investigation and had turned his cellphone over as part of a criminal gambling probe.

Sources said then that prosecutors were investigating whether Ulrich racked up gambling debts in card games linked to organized crime, dating back to his days as a city councilman from Queens.

Ulrich was not charged at the time and the probe continued, with prosecutors seeming to zero in on possible favors exchanged by the pol – and news breaking over the summer that a grand jury had been hearing evidence against him and that a criminal indictment was imminent.

Among the several other people expected to be arrested alongside Ulrich on Wednesday are Brooklyn real estate developer Mark Caller, who is expected to face charges related to his alleged offering of a discounted apartment to Ulrich, law enforcement sources said.

Caller raised nearly $50,000 toward Adams’ mayoral campaign, according to a report Tuesday by The City.

Two brothers – Joseph and Anthony Livreri – the co-owners of a Queens pizza shop with alleged mafia ties who co-hosted a fundraiser for Adams’ mayoral campaign in August 2021 are also expected to face charges, the sources said.

A full list of charges against Ulrich and the other possible defendants was not immediately available Tuesday night.

Reps for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg did not comment.

Ulrich — who as of January had been selling insurance to make ends meet —  recently wrote a children’s book recently in which where dogs are judges and juries in the court system.
