The Pennsylvania Prison guard who was on duty when convicted Killer Danelo Cavalcante shimmied his way up a wall to freedom last week has been fired, according to officials.

The unidentified prison guard — an 18-year-veteran — was fired on Thursday, a Chester County spokesperson confirmed to The Post.

Cavalcante, 34, has been on the lam since his daring escape from the Chester County Prison, where he is serving a life sentence for murder, on Aug. 31. 

More than 400 law enforcement officers are currently assisting in the massive manhunt, authorities said on Friday.

Cavalcante’s escape was caught on prison security cameras. Footage shows him wandering to a secluded part of the jail yard in between two walls, about five feet apart.

He places his hands on one wall and his feet on the other wall and clambers backward up and onto the roof, where he busted out, video shows.

Prison warden Howard Holland said earlier this week that the guard at the observation tower who could have spotted Cavalcante on the roof had been placed on administrative leave.

A week before his escape, Cavalcante was sentenced to life in prison for the vicious murder of his ex-girlfriend, 33-year-old Deborah Brandão, whom he stabbed 38 times in front of her two young children in April 2021.

He is also wanted in Brazil for a 2017 murder in the country, according to the Chester County DA’s office.

District Attorney Deb Ryan told reporters Thursday that Brandão’s family is terrified that their loved one’s killer is on the run. They’ve been provided with 24-hour police detail, she said.

The killer has been spotted at least 8 times in the week since his escape.

Authorities said Thursday he may have been spotted near Longwood Gardens, a botanical garden in the area, just before noon.

A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered for information that leads to his capture.
