A Long Island husband and wife were killed when their Boat collided with another vessel and capsized in a tragic accident on the Great South Bay, authorities said. 

Louis Deritis, 53, and Renee Deritis, 50, of Oakdale, were riding in a 27-foot 1989 OC/MA boat – with Louis at the helm – when the ship collided with a 44-foot 1989 Henriques Sport Fisherman boat around 10:40 p.m. Sunday, Suffolk County Police said. 

The ship then capsized in the Great South Bay, north of Ocean Bay Park, between North Channel and Range Channel, officials said. 

Louis was tossed from the ship and rescuers could not initially find him, authorities said. 

But divers from the Islip Fire Department found Renee within the hull of the submerged boat and removed her to their vessel. She was declared dead at the scene.

“The victim unfortunately was beyond help and declared deceased at the scene,” fire officials said. 

By Monday morning, her husband’s body had been recovered as well, Suffolk County cops said. 

Ferdinand Caravousanos, 61, of West Babylon, who operated the other boat, and his passengers were not injured, cops said. 

Both vessels were impounded for safety checks.

The investigation into what caused the crash is underway, police said.
