This cosplay was specifically created for the launch event known as “Ignite The Spark,” which celebrated Zeri’s inclusion as the newest addition to the roster of champions in League of Legends: Wild Rift. Although Riot initially introduced Zeri on January 20, 2022, she was officially added to the live roster on March 12, 2023.

Aryanna, a member of Oasis Gaming, collaborated with Welcome Studios and Oasis Gaming to create a cosplay of the Zeri Champion Trailer/Cinematic. Despite having only one week to complete the project, they worked tirelessly to bring their interpretation to life. To add a unique twist, they decided to shoot the cosplay in Intramuros, Manila, as it evoked the atmosphere of Zaun from the League of Legends universe. Aryanna expressed her gratitude to Otaku Equipped and Myrene Custom Wigs for their assistance with the cosplay.

When asked about being contacted by Riot Games to cosplay as Zeri, Aryanna expressed her immense excitement and honor. Working with Riot Games again was thrilling, but being chosen as the official Zeri cosplayer for the League of Legends: Wild Rift launch was an even greater privilege. Cosplay is a personal passion for Aryanna, and she is a fan of League of Legends, particularly of the character Zeri. Representing a Filipino-inspired character in an international game was a significant opportunity for Aryanna, and she aimed to faithfully recreate the character’s cosplay to do her justice. She poured her heart into the project, immersing herself in Zeri’s gameplay, voice lines, and cinematic trailer, and she feels grateful for the positive reception the content has received.

The main challenge in producing the video was the limited time frame of one week. To release the content shortly after Zeri’s launch in Wild Rift, everything had to be shot within a day and edited within the week. Aryanna expresses her appreciation to Welcome Studios, Dagli Films, Oasis Gaming, the behind-the-scenes team, and the two editors for their contributions in bringing Zeri’s vision to life. Aryanna, a content creator since the age of 15, is a member of Oasis Gaming. She began her career through blogging and YouTube videos before becoming a VJ for MTV from 2014 for a span of five years. Known for her beauty and lifestyle content, she has recently been focusing on gaming, technology, and cosplay. Aryanna started cosplaying at the age of 13, with her earliest cosplay being Ai Enma from Jigoku Shōjo. The character appealed to her because of its similarity to Emily the Strange, a book series she enjoyed. While she initially cosplayed characters like a French maid and Alice in Wonderland, her repertoire expanded as she grew older, encompassing not only anime characters but also those from video games.

Q: What inspires you to continue cosplaying?

Cosplaying serves as an avenue for me to escape reality and embody any character I desire. It’s not just about portraying cute characters from movies or video games; I also enjoy bringing them to life and placing them in situations that align with their personalities. What truly motivates me is witnessing the reactions and feedback from the cosplay community regarding my creations. It’s not just about visual aesthetics; my cosplays help breathe life into the characters and make them more tangible.

Q: Can you share your experience with Killjoy cosplays and how it all began?

Like many gamers during the pandemic, I delved into playing Valorant. It was my first-ever FPS game, and I devoted time to honing my skills in it. One of the agents that resonated with me was Killjoy, and I found myself drawn to cosplaying her.

Q: Are you a League of Legends player?

I have recently become an active player of League of Legends this year, but I had experimented with it a few times before. However, my current engagement with the game surpasses my previous attempts.

Q: Do you find any similarities between yourself and Zeri? What aspects of Zeri do you appreciate the most?

I do perceive several similarities between Zeri and myself. We both possess a determined nature and an inner drive that keeps us going, despite the obstacles we face. Additionally, it seems that we both experience power outages— a common occurrence in the Philippines.

What I particularly adore about Zeri is her lively personality, which shines through her voice lines in the game and her overall vibe. Furthermore, I appreciate how she encapsulates the essence of being Filipino, both in her appearance and her portrayal in the game.

Q: If you had the opportunity to cosplay another champion from League of Legends, who would you choose?

I have already cosplayed as Spirit Blossom Ahri, but if given another chance, I would love to cosplay as Lux. I am intrigued by the various skins Lux has, including her base skin, as well as any of the Star Guardian skin champions like Star Guardian Kai’Sa or Star Guardian Sona. The possibilities and options are limitless.

Q: What message do you have for aspiring cosplayers who hope to turn cosplay into a career?

For me, cosplay initially began as a passion. Growing up, I was deeply invested in anime, manga, and video games. Sometimes, the content provided by the creators of these works feels insufficient. While this is beyond our control, as a cosplayer, I enjoy contributing to the narrative and enriching the lore. If you can offer such fan service by staying true to the character while adding your own personal touch, it becomes a time-consuming endeavor.

It’s easy to cosplay a character you have a personal connection with and genuinely appreciate, rather than choosing one solely based on popularity or visual appeal. Ultimately, cosplay is a means of self-expression and a fantastic outlet for creativity and escapism. So, have fun with it!
