The Last Album Of Gordon Lightfoot Will Be Released On July 14

Gordon Lightfoot’s last album set to be released on July 14

The late Canadian singer-songwriter Gordon Lightfoot’s last record will be released in July 14.

A double LP titled At Royal Albert Hall was recorded on May 24, 2016, during a live performance at the popular London venue. It is Lightfoot’s fourth live Album. His first was Two Tones at the Village Corner in 1962; his second was Sunday Concert (which peaked at No. 143 on the Billboard 200 in 1969); and his third was All Live (released in 2012).

Canadian independent company Linus Entertainment published it in 2004, which also put out Lightfoot’s final studio album with his band, Harmony. (His band, Harmony missed on the studio record that followed, titled Solo.)

Lightfoot reportedly asked for the release of the album as soon as possible in the weeks before his demise. He showered blessings on the cover art and made it vivid that the recording was not altered.

Numerous musicians, including Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, Eric Clapton, Barbra Streisand, and thousands more, have recorded Lightfoot’s songs.

2012 saw the induction of Lightfoot into the Hall of Fame of Songwriters. In his native Canada, he received 13 Juno Awards, the last of which was his 1986 entrance into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. He received four Juno Awards (1971–1973, 1975) for male vocalist of the year and two (1973, 1977) for Composer of the Year.

For Did She Mention My Name in 1968, the best male Pop Vocal Performance for “If You Could Read My Mind” in 1971. Moreover, for Song of the Year for “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald” in 1976, and best male pop vocal performance for “If You Could Read My Mind,” Lightfoot got four Grammy Awards but received none.

Justin Trudeau, Canada’s Prime Minister wrote: “We have lost one of our greatest singer-songwriters”. He added that Lightfoot “captured our country’s spirit in his music – and in doing so, he helped shape Canada’s soundscape. May his music continue to inspire future generations, and may his legacy live on forever.

He showed his condolence – “To his family, friends, and many fans across the country and around the world: I’m keeping you in my thoughts at this difficult time.”
