Fans surprised Taylor Swift with unexpected members among the audiences during her performance of “Marjorie” in Nashville on Friday, May 5.

Fans just near the main stage held up dozens of printed pictures of Marjorie, Swift’s grandmother, who was the inspiration for the sentimental Evermore ballad. Tears rolled out of her eyes as she sang the heartfelt ode to her grandmother before 70,000 audiences at the first performance this weekend at the city’s Nissan Stadium. Swift has three performances this weekend.

She continued singing while her mouth was open in shock as fans pulled up printed pictures of her grandmother on The Eras Tour. She said, “If I didn’t know better, I’d think you’re still around.” As she finished her second song, she grinned and pressed her hand to her heart.

Just like the weekend during her Atlanta stops before, the crowd also lit up the stadium with their phone lights while Taylor was performing “Marjorie”.

In Nashville, she sat down at the piano and addressed audiences, “What are you trying to do to me?” Oh my god, it was really stunning.

Those who don’t know about Majorie in the audience, she explained for them, “So that song, Marjorie, that was a song that I wrote for my mom’s mom, my grandma. She was also a vocalist. And she died when I was 13 years old.”

She added, “I just know that my mom, right now, is just like bawling and has been for the solid last five-and-a-half minutes, and I love you guys so much. That was so meaningful and so special.”

Other reasons are there for which the Nashville event was unique. Swift announced her long-awaited Speak Now (Taylor’s Version). Fans also reported seeing Matty Healy, of 1975, at Nissan Stadium to see the performance.
