She Sells Seashells : 6th February 23

Hello, how are you this morning? I’m doing well, enjoying the slightly longer days, and excited to see the first snowdrops of the year start to appear. Spring is coming!

I’ve had a couple of good weeks; busy, and productive… marked a few things off the ‘to-do list - always very satisfying! I spent more time outdoors, got lots of fresh air in my lungs, traveled on buses, and caught up with creative friends (old and new) - it was just what the Dr. ordered!

I’ve been getting quite carried away about ideas for the future, weighing up the pros and cons, but not quite ready to make firm decisions yet. I know… all very cryptic, but I’ll share more with you as soon as plans are made.

The creepy-crawlies are now available in my Shop.

SHE SELLS SEASHELLS…

Seashell studies, acrylic paint on plywood by Julia Laing

These seashell studies, which were painted during the first lockdown, have been treated to frames. Better late than never. It took a while to pick out the right colours but I’m very happy with the results and am determined to get more of my paintings framed. When they were ready I carefully covered them in bubble wrap and placed them snugly in a small leather suitcase, for a trip over the Forth Road Bridge and along the Fife coast to Kirkcaldy.

My Cherry Pie, Kirkcaldy High Street

You can now find them in My Cherry Pie, a beautiful gallery and gift shop which was established on the High Street several years ago by Gail Cadogan. The shop has recently undergone a transformation as Gail has given the interior and fittings a fresh bright white coat of paint and hand-picked a fantastic selection of cards, gifts, and artwork by local artists, which sit so well alongside her own wonderful paintings, jewellery, and enamel work. She was very generous with her time and I enjoyed hearing about how movement and modern dance inspired her latest abstract work. It's a great shop to visit and I’m so happy to have my paintings on show there.
