Artwork from the previous month

Detail from one of my test photographs taken on Friday 28th July

July was starting to look very sparse of any Artwork until, I’m happy to report, the final weekend.

On the final Friday of the month I took some test photos for a half-formed idea for a future photographic piece with a very deliberate “androgynous Georgian Dandy captured by English revolutionary insurgents” vibe.

(In my head I imagined the French Revolution translocated to England - les tricoteuses are now formidable old women from Bradford.)

I hope to photograph the finished piece in August or, more likely, September.

And then on the Sunday I managed to fit a life-drawing session:

One of the three life-drawings from the session on Sunday 30th July

Initially I was going to use a sanguine red Conté crayon, but found myself switching to graphite pencil with some white Conté crayon for highlights.

This is the first full life-drawing session I’ve done since May — I’m not sure what happened to June — but I hope to get back to doing two life-drawing sessions per month from now on.

My thanks, as always, to the life-models, without whom… etc.
