The Nigerian entertainment industry has been thrown into a state of confusion following fresh reports that Nollywood actor Junior Pope, who reportedly died in a boat mishap on Wednesday afternoon, is alive.

OsunDailyNG reports that filmmaker Sam Olatunji announced on Wednesday that Junior Pope died alongside three others after their boat capsized while attempting to cross the River Niger to shoot a film.

The President of Actors Guild President, Emeka Rollas, also confirmed his death.

However, reports have emerged that the actor has now been revived.

Reality star Phyna tweeted: “I heard Junior Pope is alive… We pray for quick recovery.”

Sharing a video of the actor being revived, an X user with the handle, @OfficialBigKay wrote: “Update: Nollywood Actor Junior Pope Odonwodo, previously reported to have drowned in the River Niger Asaba earlier today, has been revived and is now alive! Thank God for his life.”

Another X user, @heisraycypher, wrote: “Junior Pope is still alive, delete that post.”
