Many people were allegedly killed when suspected gunmen attacked the town of Ejule in Kogi State’s Ofu Local Government Area.

The wife of a local youth leader and a commercial motorcycle rider, known as an “okada rider,” was apparently slain in the attack, according to a member of the town who left as a result of the event.

“At this time, I am unable to provide you with the death toll. An okada rider and the wife of a well-known teenager in the area have been positively recognized as having died in the early-morning attack.

More dead bodies are being seen on the streets, but the atmosphere is still tight. On the phone, a local told our correspondent that “no one can leave right now.”

SP William Aya, the state’s police public relations officer (PPRO), did not return his calls.
