Events in NYC For July

When you think of events in July you think of fireworks and the 4th of July Fourth celebrations. There is also Bastille Day, Sunset Salsa at Hudson River Park takes place every Thursday until 8/31; starting at 6:30 p.m. on Pier 76 and so much more.

Until 7/21 Yayoi Kusama’s new gallery show in Chelsea.  “I Spend Each Day Embracing Flowers,” features vivid new paintings at David Zwirner on West 19th Street.

Until 8/6 Hamlet at Shakespeare in the Park, presented at the open-air Delacorte Theater in Central Park.

Until 8/27 Vincent Van Gogh at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Until 9/15 The Malibu Barbie Café, at 19 Fulton Street at the South Street Seaport. Each reservation includes your choice of entree and side item, full access to the Barbie Cafe experience and a 90-minute table reservation. Early bird pricing ranges from $22-$30 for kids and $39-$49 for adults depending on the date and time. You can buy additional drinks, dessert and food.

Until 10/3 Earth Poetica, for free in the lobby of 3 World Trade Center.

7/4: Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks beginning at 9:25pm on the East River centered around Midtown Manhattan between E. 26th and E. 40th Streets. Best places to watch the fireworks on the Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens waterfronts.

7/4: Nathan’s Famous 4th of July Hot Dog Eating Contest on Coney Island. This free event is open to the public and takes place at Maimonides Park, at the corner of Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island, Brooklyn.

7/6: Louis Armstrong House Museum finally opens. This permanent home for the 60,000-piece Louis Armstrong Archive (the world’s largest for a jazz musician containing photos, recordings, manuscripts, letters & mementos) and a 75-seat venue for performances, lectures, films, and educational experiences, according to a release. Tickets can be purchased at louisarmstronghouse.org.

7/7: Bryant Park Picnic Performances Carnegie Hall Citywide: Arturo O’Farrill and the Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra at 7pm
