Race 1. (22:50) Sky Bet Handicap 2384m

Back Me

15 Intinso (Bet Now: $7.50) is the way I am leaning in the opener for Team Gosden. This colt ran over this trip at Ascot last time where he was tardy away and soon after that, he was keen in the run and that left him without much left for the finale when third to Regal Empire, beaten a half length. He has that 2400m run under the belt and was a few weeks between runs so he has a bit going for him.

Danger

11 Balance Play (Bet Now: $4.20) is heading in the right direction and is looking to make it three wins on the bounce. Dominant win at Chester two back before proving that was no fluke with an impressive display at Goodwood, proving strongest late and was impressive. Good test here, but confident he can measure up.

Long Shot

4 Educator (Bet Now: $15.00) is around eight weeks between runs for William Haggas since racing over 2300m at Windsor where he got back to near last in the run and did make up ground but was never really a threat, beaten eight lengths. He’ll have no issue with the trip and with a drag into the race, he’ll be stronger than most at the end.

Race 2. (23:25) Lonsdale Cup Stakes 3269m

Back Me

It’s hard to get away from 2 Quickthorn (Bet Now: $4.20). He was big odds in the Goodwood Cup last time but you can’t take anything away from his win given he led by over ten lengths and was there to be run down but he found and was strong to the line in winning. Likes racing at York and with that racing style, he is certainly likeable.

Danger

4 Coltrane (Bet Now: $3.50) is a quality animal that should be around the mark. He ran third to Quickthorn in the Goodwood Cup and seemingly had every chance from just off the speed in chasing Quickthorn but was gassed in chasing. Good record at the track and is always thereabouts at this level. Leading contender.

Long Shot

3 Broome (Bet Now: $8.00) is getting on in years but he is a proven stayer that can surprise at odds. He comes through the Goodwood Cup where he didn’t like the shifty ground at all and was a beatne horse a long way out, finishing down the track behind Quickthorn. Back on firmer footing, his best is clearly good enough so don’t dismiss him.

Race 3. (00:00) Gimcrack Stakes 1207m

Back Me

6 Johannes Brahms (Bet Now: $3.30) is the way I am leaning. Well bred colt for Aidan O’Brien that comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since the Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot where he was near the speed throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get the win when a narrow second to Big Evs, who has won again since so the form reads well and should prove hard to beat here.

Danger

8 Kylian (Bet Now: $3.40) has been up a little while but is holding his form pretty well. He comes through the Molecomb at Goodwood where he got back in the run and did make up solid headway but was never a threat to Big Evs, and that form is easy to tie as mentioned above. 1200m is a query but he is genuine and the form around him is strong.

Long Shot

Back to 1200m should be fine for 1 Haatem (Bet Now: $9.00). His last couple of runs have come over 1400m, winning the Vintage at Goodwood a few weeks back when near the speed throughout before being clicked up 400m out and he handled the conditions best for a strong win. Not sure he has the quality of the first two, but is the tough bugger.

Race 4. (00:35) Nunthorpe Stakes 1005m

Back Me

6 Twilight Calls (Bet Now: $15.00) is worth a throw at the stumps at odds. He comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since the King’s Stand where he got back to near last and was held up at times but was able to slice his way through the field and finished off his race strongly to run fourth to Bradsell. Frankie takes over, he’ll get a good drag into the race from the gate and be stronger than most at the end.

Danger

10 Highfield Princess (Bet Now: $2.50) is a ripping mare and seemingly a straight bat option. Placed in both the King’s Stand and Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot before going to the Qatar Stakes where she looked a moral and she duly saluted, lapping up the conditions with class coming to the fore in a dominant display. Hard to beat against this lot.

Long Shot

2 Khaadem (Bet Now: $21.00) is a knockout hope. He caused a massive boilover when winning the Platinum Jubilee at Royal Ascot before going to the July Cup at Newmarket where he got back in the run and did make up ground but was never a threat behind Shaquille. Spots them a start but will be strong at the end.

Race 5. (01:10) Ebf Fillies’ Handicap 2062m

Back Me

7 Rowayeh (Bet Now: $3.40) seems the straight bat option in an open race to my eye. This filly ran over the mile at Goodwood last time where she got back in the run, spotting those in front a decent start and did make up ground in a good effort behind Choisya. Racing like a rise to 2000m will suit and does strike a winnable race here IMO.

Danger

2 Sirona (Bet Now: $7.00) should appreciate a rise in distance. He is over a month between runs since racing over the mile at Newmarket where he was run off his legs early and while he was never a threat, he was good late in the piece behind Darkness. Has run okay at the trip previously and overall, the depth here is a bit on the thin side.

Long Shot

6 Reach (Bet Now: $8.50) can be an improver at odds. She resumed over this trip at Windsor where she was keen in the run but despite that, had something to offer but got held up and didn’t really get a chance to build the revs. Better for the run under the belt so why I’m not sure I could back her to win, she is a must for multiples.

Race 6. (01:45) Maiden Stakes 1408m

Back Me

13 Under The Sun (Bet Now: $3.70) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. This colt has finished runner up in both career outings. Debut came at Haydock when well held before going to Ascot where he showed more fight in the straight and was only nabbed late. He has the hard raceday experience/fitness under the belt, which should hold him in good stead. (led, kicked, nabbed late)

Danger

7 Kings Valley (Bet Now: $4.40) is dangerous. He is a month between runs since debuting at this trip at Sandown where he tracked the speed and seemed to move well in the run. Tried hard but being on debut, condition just gave way late when third. Better for the run under the belt, he appeals against this lot.

Long Shot

8 Peace Walk (Bet Now: $16.00) creates some level of interest. He is a Cracksman colt that is on debut and is bred to be a handy one given he is related to several nice types. Stable is in form and noteworthy that he is nominated for a Group ll next month, so the stable must have an opinion of him. Watch the market.

Race 7. (02:20) Sky Bet Mile Handicap 1584m

Back Me

7 Tafreej (Bet Now: $7.00) will do me in the get out. William Haggas trained gelding that comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since July 15 at Newmarket when back in the run and did make up ground despite being one paced but wasn’t too bad in the run to the line in a solid effort. Marquand takes over and the horse does seem to react well when racing on the fresh side.

Danger

4 Enfjaar (Bet Now: $4.50) is a huge yard/market watch. He is a very nice horse that hasn’t raced since Royal Ascot when struggling in the Jersey Stakes after being near the speed throughout. If he brings his best, he likely wins, but those performances have come on Synthetic tracks. Just needs to translate it to the turf.

Long Shot

5 Silver Sword (Bet Now: $9.00) is a big improver here IMO. Forget he went around over 1991m at Goodwood last time given he ran his race in the mounting yard, sweating up badly, and was just never a factor in the run, struggling in the conditions. Back in trip and firmer footing are two big ticks, so he can run a much improved race.

BEST BET: Race Two Number 2 Quickthorn

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 6 Johannes Brahms

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 6 Twilight Calls
