S.F. Pride 2023: All the parties you need to know about this weekend

While a month filled with LGBTQIA+ community celebrations is well underway, the grand S.F. Pride parade, held the last weekend of June, brings with it all kinds of parties.

Check out The Chronicle’s guide to the major happenings for adults, scheduled to take place over official S.F. Pride weekend (Friday-Sunday, June 23-25).

Cal Academy Pride NightLife

The weekly adults-only, after-hours event celebrates love, equality, self-expression and Pride with drag performances from Oaklash festival including Lotus Boy and Vera!, food and drinks, cocktails, live sets from DJ Digital Kitkat, “Queer From Here” photography by Lauren Tabak,  craft activities and a community corner with local queer organizations including Bridge HIV, ABO Comix and Rainbow World Fund.

Pride Weekend at El Rio

El Rio is set to host “Bustin’ Out: Official Trans March After Party” on Friday night, highlighting Bay Area trans and nonbinary DJs and performance artists including Sojourner False. “Mango: Pride Night” follows on Saturday, and the bar wraps up its Pride weekend programming with “Envy: A Pride/Queer Liberation Party” on Sunday afternoon, featuring hosts Nicki Jizz and Vivvy, and performances by Fauxnique, Snaxx, Mahlae Balenciaga, Kochina Rude and others.

Pride Weekend at DNA Lounge

The venue’s schedule is full of music and dancing, kicking off with the “So Stoked for Pride” party on Friday, featuring multiple DJs performing on four stages. Next up Saturday afternoon, it’s “Bare Chest Calendar’s Pride Tea Party” and “Eden SF: Official Women’s Pride Party” at night. Finish up the weekend celebration on Sunday with “Ascend: Flower Tower,” featuring Arno Diem and Nina Flowers from “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”

The annual after-hours Pride event is set to feature five stages inside and outside with DJ sets and live performances. Enjoy music, art, video games, a cuddle puddle and more.

Long Live Drag: Tribute to Heklina

Honor and celebrate the life of the legendary LGBTQ+ icon Heklina at an evening event set to include an evening hosted by acclaimed drag artists Miss Shugana and Madd Dogg 20/20 and set to include performances from Bebe Sweetbriar and Kylie Minono. A portion of the event proceeds will go to Oasis Arts Foundation.

Pride Weekend at Monarch

Saturday brings the main event with “Powerswitch Pride,” presented by local queer DJ collective Supervixen and Switch and focused on femme and nonbinary representation. Rounding out the weekend on Sunday is “Werd: Pride 2023,” a techno and dub celebration featuring live sets from non genre compliant DJ mr_jenifer.

S.F. Eagle Pride in the Plaza

The S.F. Eagle Bar, Folsom Street and the Leather Cultural District present a first-of-its-kind event, located in the pedestrian plaza and dedicated to the LGBTQ+ and leather communities.
