F1 Miami Top Betting Predictions

Max Verstappen has dominated the proceedings in Miami so far, and the Dutchman is seemingly on the way to a dominant win on Sunday. But there is still plenty of action to keep an eye on.

Over 17.5 Classified Finishers

The four races this year were relatively tame as far as retirements are concerned. While Australia saw plenty of chaos, it only resulted in three DNFs (Gasly and Ocon counted as classified finishers despite their violent crash on the penultimate lap). Although the Miami International Autodrome is a street track, it doesn’t really look like one. The track is wide and even has a few spacious runoff areas, giving drivers a bit of room for error.

Last year’s race only saw three retirements, two of which were courtesy of a late clash between Gasly and Norris. Other than a last lap crash between Mick Schumacher and Vettel, the race was relatively uneventful. Considering that no races this year had more than three DNFs, it’s perfectly possible that at least 18 of Sunday’s 20 make it to the checkered.

Alonso Podium Finish

At first glance, things don’t look particularly encouraging for Alonso this weekend. The two-time champion could manage 7th, 5th and 12th through the three free practice sessions, behind the two Ferraris and occasionally Mercedes as well. But, as it’s been the case in most practice sessions this year, Aston Martin was clearly focusing its efforts on the long runs – where the AMR23 excels.

Alonso was consistently the “best of the rest”, behind the two Red Bulls, in the long runs. Ferrari has notoriously struggled with tyre degradation, which could be an even bigger problem in the Florida heat. Alonso could be looking at another podium finish after narrowly missing out on a third place finish in Azerbaijan.

F1 Miami Grand Prix Weather Conditions

The weather forecast for the Miami Grand Prix has a 60% chance of rain in the afternoon, which means that the race could very well take place in the wet. Temperature is also going to be high, around 30°C, at the start. Drivers struggled all weekend, with track temperatures close to 50°C. Grip was at a premium, as the combination between high temperature and a green track surface led to plenty of drivers skating and sliding around.
