This is a 12-team mock draft, with my team selecting from the fourth spot and our fantasy football analyst Kyle Soppe selecting from the 10th spot. Each player receives .5 points per reception, and touchdowns are worth six points for rushing and receiving. Quarterbacks receive four points per passing touchdown.

Pick Analysis: As fantasy managers saw last season, the RB position is becoming less and less dependable as the top-tier options dealt with injuries. Meanwhile, the top options at WR are providing a major advantage to fantasy managers with their exorbitant target totals.

Kupp is essentially by himself in LA this season, and he figures to be in an offense that’s going to be forced to throw the ball a ton with the state of their overall roster. We should be looking at another 150+ target season for Kupp in 2023.

Pick Analysis: Higgins has proven in the past that people shouldn’t view Ja’Marr Chase as the WR1 and Higgins as the clear WR2. This tandem should be viewed as a 1A/1B in a situation that is tied to one of the best QBs in the NFL right now. As a WR2 on my roster, Higgins is a solid selection here.

Pick Analysis: Mattison’s ADP has not caught up to the news that Dalvin Cook is no longer in town, but this is where I figure he’ll be going off the board in about a month’s time.

Whenever Cook has missed time with an injury, Mattison has stepped up and shouldered a huge workload for the Vikings, and as a result, he’s been dominant for fantasy purposes.

Mattison now has this backfield to himself, and he could easily be a top-12 RB for fantasy football this season with the opportunity he has in front of him. We don’t need to overthink this one.

Pick Analysis: Yes, the 49ers aren’t going to be a pass-happy unit in 2023, but Aiyuk has proven that he can get open at will in the NFL and earn targets. Many fantasy managers prefer his teammate, Deebo Samuel, but Aiyuk is the more intriguing San Francisco WR for me heading into this season.

Pick Analysis: Hopkins is now in town, which certainly affects Burks’ overall potential target volume. However, for what Burks loses in target opportunity, he gains in defenses now having to dedicate more attention away from him.

All reports coming out of Tennessee are that Burks is primed for a big season, as Adam Caplan reported in his recent notebook, and I’m a big believer in the talent.

Pick Analysis: Dillon could be in line for a massive opportunity this season as Matt LaFleur is finally free to implement the exact scheme he wants with Aaron Rodgers out of town. When LaFleur was in Tennessee, the Titans looked to control the clock and lean on the run game routinely, which favors a running back like Dillon, who can shoulder a massive workload.

Pick Analysis: We know how talented Moore is, but the situation in New York last season was absolutely horrific for a variety of reasons. Now that he’s in Cleveland, no one is receiving more hype in training camp than the third-year wideout. Here in the ninth round is a perfect spot to take a shot on a bounce-back campaign from the explosive playmaker.

Pick Analysis: If I’m unable to get one of the top six or seven QBs, I’m perfectly comfortable waiting and scooping up Goff for much cheaper. Last season, the Lions’ offense was humming, and not much changed going into 2023. Goff is a safe and reliable QB for fantasy purposes this season.

Pick Analysis: Goff was my solid and reliable addition at the QB position a few rounds earlier, but Lance is a pure upside pick.

We don’t know yet how the QB battle is going to shake out in San Francisco, but Lance’s rushing ability is too good to pass up for fantasy football. If he doesn’t become the starting QB, I can simply release him and pick up one of the top waiver options in Week 1.

Pick Analysis: There’s a ton of unknowns in Green Bay this year. Christian Watson was dominant in stretches last season, but there’s no telling who Jordan Love will lock onto in 2023.

Reed is an incredibly underrated WR that should be the starting slot option for Green Bay right away. He could be a target hog for Love over the middle of the field and an incredible value in fantasy drafts.
