EXCLUSIVE: Australian band Lime Cordiale announce surprising new career move and launch their very own range of beer

Aussie Band Lime Cordiale have launched their very own range of beer, Largo Brewing.

The band of brothers, consisting of Oli and Louis Leimbach, announced their own range of ‘clean’ beers in August before the slabs reached liquor shelves earlier this month.

Though they are not the first Australian celebrities to jump on board the profitable project — stars like Abbie Chatfield, The Inspired Unemployed, and surfer Mick Fanning also have their own beers — the pair insist their range is different and better than most.

Largo Brewing is carbon-neutral, meaning it reduces and offsets carbon emissions to lessen the impact on the earth.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Oli and Louis explained drinkers shouldn’t feel guilty for what they consume and enjoy.

‘We just wanted to [have a carbon neutral beer] because you shouldn’t have to feel bad about buying it,’ the boys said.

‘With everything that comes out now, like, we’re so obsessed with consuming s**t — whether it’s clothes or food in little plastic bags, chippies — I think you should feel good about it.’

Lime Cordiale hail from Sydney‘s Northern Beaches and came up with the name of their beer from a term they used during their high school days.

The surfers created an acronym ‘Late ARvo Glass Off’ for their afternoons out on the water, surfing and riding waves with their mates.

‘It’s sort of like, as soon as you turn 18, you’re like, “how sick would it be to have your own beer?”‘ Oli explained.

‘It’s a dream type thing to do.’

The ARIA Award winners revealed they mainly wanted to have their own beer because they got ‘sick of drinking the same beers’ backstage at their shows.

‘After like three shows, you’re like, “Argh, can’t believe we have the same beer.” You’ve gotta switch it up,’ Oli added.

Oli and Louis have two options of beer as part of Largo’s range.

Clean Lager, is what they describe as ‘easy drinking and refreshing’ beer, and The Dawdler, a mid-strength and low-carb option.

The drink’s unique can art was designed using lino printing by Louis, who has also designed every album cover the band has released.

‘I’ve been playing around with linocuts for a fair while now,’ he said.

‘Our album covers, merch and tour posters are all lino.’

Louis added: ‘For Largo, I wanted to create a distinctive look that plays off my own personal style while also showcasing the truest meaning of Late ARvo Glass Off.’

Despite the successful launch of the alcoholic beverage, the band admitted they won’t be hanging up their musical instruments any time soon.

‘Music comes first. But beers are a close second,’ Louis told Daily Mail Australia.

‘We love bringing people together. Whether it’s putting on a show, heading up the coast, or brewing a very yummy beer.’

Largo Brewing is available in selected Dan Murphy’s, BWS stores and Jimmy Brings locations across Australia
