Playoff time is here for Iowa high School football teams.

The first round of playoff competition starts this Friday for teams in 8-Player and Classes A, 1A and 2A. There are several outstanding matchups, headlined by Southeast Valley (5-3) at No. 4 Spirit Lake (7-1) and Cherokee (5-3) at No. 7 Kuemper Catholic (6-2) in 2A and No. 8 Wilton (7-1) at Woodward-Granger (4-4) and Denver (5-3) at South Hamilton (7-1) in 1A.

In Class A North Butler (6-2) is at No. 10 Starmont (7-1), North Linn (6-2) is at No. 5 Lisbon (8-0) and Pekin (6-2) is at No. 7 Lynnville-Sully (7-1). The 8-Player matchups include Janesville (6-2) at Bishop Garrigan (7-1), Kee (6-2) at No. 10 Central City (7-1), Edgewood-Colesburg (6-2) at No. 7 Don Bosco (7-1), Moravia (7-2) at Lone Tree (6-2) and Riceville (6-2) at West Bend-Mallard (6-2).

Teams in Classes 3A, 4A and 5A will wrap up the regular season this week. The top games in Week 9 include Urbandale at 5A No. 10 Ankeny Centennial (4-4), 4A No. 1 North Polk (6-2) at No. 5 Adel-Desoto-Minburn (6-2) and 3A No. 10 Humboldt (5-3) at No. 9 Webster City (6-2).
