The real reason Miranda Kerr declined to return to the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show reboot: ‘I’m good’

Miranda Kerr has revealed why she won’t be returning to the ‘reimagined’ Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

The supermodel, who was the first and only Australian ‘VS Angel’, walked the runway from 2006 to 2009 then again in 2011 and 2012.

She ultimately ended her contract with Victoria’s Secret in 2013, before the US lingerie giant announced that it was scrapping its Angels brand in 2021 for a more inclusive image.

When Kerr, 40, was asked to make an appearance in the new show, Victoria’s Secret World Tour, she declined.

‘When they were doing this [new] show, they were like, “Miranda, we’d love to have you back,”‘ Kerr, who is pregnant with her third child, told the Herald Sun.

‘I felt like, I had already hung up my wings. I’m good. And then … I’m pregnant, so it all worked out.’

The model added she has no regrets about working with the fashion label, but her life and career are now heading in a ‘different direction’.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2017, already share kids Hart, five, and Myles, three.

Meanwhile, Kerr shares son Flynn, 12, with ex-husband Orlando Bloom.

Victoria’s Secret has had a huge shake-up after a four years off the runway to build a more inclusive and diverse image after they phased out their iconic ‘Angels’ in 2021, following two-decades of recruiting the world’s top models to hit the catwalk.

In the four years since the last fashion show, the brand has expanded their size range, designed bras for breastfeeding and mastectomies and created the VS Collective – including actress Priyanka Chopra, Olympian Eileen Gu and model Paloma Elsesser – a group of ‘accomplished women to drive positive change’.

The ‘reimagined’ feature-length behind-the-scenes show, Victoria’s Secret The Tour 2023, focuses on ’emerging global trailblazers’ instead of strictly lingerie-clad vixens.

A host of famous models will still feature; including Gigi Hadid, Hailey Bieber, Lila Moss and Naomi Campbell, with Doja Cat joining musical acts as the catwalk show is then broadcast live.

Chris Rupp, Chief Customer Officer at Victoria’s Secret & Co, said: ‘We are excited to introduce a completely reimagined version of the fashion show, while bringing back the very best of entertainment and fashion our customers have been asking for. We’re celebrating the iconic heritage of the brand through a new generation of artists, and we can’t wait to amplify their vision through our worldwide platform.’

The Amazon Prime show is set for release on September 26th.

The annual fashion show was a glamorous tradition dating back to 1995.

The televised runway not only included scantily clad models, but performances by musical guests, including Bebe Rexha, Halsey, Rita Ora, Kelsea Ballerini, Shawn Mendes and more at the last show in 2018.

The company cancelled the show and dropped the Victoria’s Secret Angel title in 2019 amid criticism the brand did not include models of all shapes and backgrounds.

Purchases by women aged 18 to 49 had been declining for several years prior to the move.
