Haydock betting tips

1.30: Golden Maverick 9/2 (1pt)

This Ian Williams-trained Horse will have William Buick back in the saddle and the pair get on well as two of his rides this season have seen them win well, including a wider margin victory at Epsom three starts ago.

Upped 6lb for that victory in Surrey and headed to Doncaster to win again, that time on soft ground. Had to contend with yet another 6lb rise in a steep rise in class and upped to 1m4f.

Drops back slightly and should do a lot better over this kind of distance.

3.10: Dazzling Jewel (2pts)

Likeable two-year-old from the in-form yard of Charlie Appleby as the Godolphin crop of youngsters are set to do well at this time of year, as indicated by the trainer himself.

This filly by Dubawi out of Lumiere is a sister to the grey Highland Avenue, the listed winner and Group 1 runner.

She has instead taken on her colour from her sire Dubawi as a nice brown and looks set to take this debut by storm.

Ascot betting tips

1.50: Odonnell’s Orchard 9/2 (1pt)

Hoping for this horse to pick up again after some decent placings on his first two outings behind Starlust and Action Point, the latter of which not too far away in listed company.

Most read in Horse Racing

He wasn’t fancied for that either at 66/1 but still placed well behind Asadna (93), Shagraan (94) and Action Point (99).

His latest outing in a novice event at Salisbury was disappointing as the 5/2 shot and may adopt different tactics for this in what is a very open race featuring debutants, some experience and some decent rated two-year-olds.

And it seems he hasn’t hit his potential since his debut has worked out so well on the face of things. Can’t be discounted.

4.10: Sea Of Thieves 7/2 (1pt)

In-form jockey Saffie Osborne takes the mount on the Ed Walker-trained horse who stepped up into a tough Group 3 here last time out in July.

This should be easier and this filly has shown plenty of promise, especially with a respectable race in sixth against the top-rated sorts of Random Harvest, Roman Mist, Amenyah and Thornbrook. And remains the one of just two horses at the front of the betting to have won over this distance.

Kempton betting tips

7.30: Doha 3/1 (1pt)

Promising Sea The Stars filly trained by the in-form Ralph Beckett (35% strike-rate) who is a short price for her highly anticipated debut.

Price says a lot at this stage considering she’s just half a point behind Copy Artist in the betting who has had five runs alone this season which has included a decent second place finish behind Queen For You at Ascot, who has now achieved a rating of 104.

Owners Al Shaqab Racing will have also waited for a star to name Doha, which can often be a nice small indicator ahead of their careers, and there’s a few promising signs for this three-year-old making her belated first run.
