The Vols will be back in action on Monday afternoon when it plays its final game of the trip against A.S. Stella Azzura in Rome. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. ET on FloSports.

Tennessee spent the first days of the trip in the Lake Como region before taking a bus to Florence for a multi-day stop, and will board a train for Rome on Sunday. In addition to the games, UT had plans for a boat tour of Lake Como, a tour of the Florence Cathedral and stops at the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, the Colosseum and Vatican City.

The Vols have previously made international trips to Spain in 1976 (2-1), France/Italy in 1997 (5-3), the Dominican Republic in the fall of 2003 (1-1), Czech Republic/Slovakia/Austria in 2007 (4-1), Italy in 2012 (4-0) and Spain/France in 2017 (3-0). They’re 20-7 all-time in international exhibitions.

It’s been a busy offseason for Tennessee, who went out and signed three transfers in Northern Colorado guard Dalton Knecht, Harvard wing Chris Ledlum and USC Upstate shooting guard Jordan Gainey. Ledlum recently elected to re-enter the transfer portal and commit to St. John’s, however.

UT signed four high school players in the 2023 recruiting cycle. It signed four-star combo-guard Freddie Dilione, who elected to graduate early and enroll with the Vols this past semester, as well as four-star center JP Estrella, four-star shooting guard Cameron Carr and three-star power forward Cade Phillips.

The Vols also received good news from Josiah-Jordan James and Santiago Vescovi when they each announced their intentions to return for an extra season. They also return point guard Zakai Zeigler, guards Jahmai Mashack and DJ Jefferson, and forwards Jonas Aidoo and Tobe Awaka.

Senior forward Olivier Nkamhoua transferred to Michigan, seniors Tyreke Key and Uros Plavsic ran out of eligibility, and freshman Julian Phillips was selected in the second round of the NBA Draft before being traded to the Chicago Bulls.
