Wednesday’s eighth race at Saratoga is an optional-claiming event for New York-bred fillies and mares traveling 1 1/8 miles on the main track. The scheduled post time is 5:10 p.m. EDT.

No. 5 Sweet Mystery (5-2) is a consistent filly with tactical speed. Amanda’s Folly handled her last time, but I can see her improving in this spot. This is her second start after a short layoff, and she is the only entrant with a good effort at Saratoga. This distance is usually kind to forwardly placed runners, and she should be in the hunt from the outset. 

No. 2 Amanda’s Folly (9-5) is enjoying a productive campaign for Linda Rice. She had a clear lead at one mile last time but could not quite keep it together in the stretch and was tagged late. I am not sure the added ground of this race does her any favors, but she is sharp and should be forwardly placed. 

No. 6 B B’s Busted (4-1) exits back-to-back late-running victories as the favorite at Finger Lakes. She might be able to get a piece of this.  

No. 1 Cinderella’s Cause (5-1) might try to make the early lead from the inside post. She fired trifecta shots in all five starts since Robert Falcone claimed her in February.
