Four Harry Kane replacements for Tottenham Hotspur to consider as striker heads to Bayern Munich | DAZN News US

With Bayern Munich now closing in on Tottenham striker Harry Kane, Ange Postecoglou’s toughest task as the new Spurs manager will be to identify his replacement.

A £104 million fee is reportedly what it took to land the 30-year-old forward, so other clubs will be aware that Tottenham are able to dig deep for a new man to lead the line, which might make the job even tougher.

Given Daniel Levy once went a whole summer without making a signing for then-manager Mauricio Pochettino, the chances of a straightforward purchase for Tottenham are slim.

We look at four potential replacements.

Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus)

Juventus reportedly want cash plus Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea if they are to let their Serbian forward go, which would value him at roughly £60m.

The 23-year-old has 23 goals in 63 appearances for the Old Lady, and the slightly underwhelming numbers have seen him linked with an exit.

Postecoglou will have to wonder if Vlahovic’s talents were not properly used at Juventus who struggled of late, or if his form at Fiorentina was transitory.

Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)

Chelsea are clearly desperate to get rid of the 30-year-old Belgian forward given he has spent two years on loan at Inter only to turn his back on them in favour of the proposed Vlahovic swap.

If that falls through, though, would Chelsea sanction his exit to a Premier League rival? Almost certainly. Chelsea have proven to be one of the more pragmatic clubs in England when it comes to selling to other clubs in England, as Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic, Mason Mount, Jorginho, Kai Havertz and others can attest.

Spurs would be getting a striker with years of goals and experience in the league, but questions would need to be answered over his less successful second loan spell with Inter.

Jonathan David (Lille)

David is in the best form compared to the other two players on the list so far, with 26 goals in 40 games last season.

Ligue 1 is admittedly less demanding than Serie A, but his confidence should give him the momentum to succeed, and as a New York-born Canadian, language will not be an obstacle to his integration at Tottenham.

Standing at just 5’ 9” might put off Postecoglou though, as he cited the imposing Richarlison as having his desired attributes for a striker.

Anthony Martial (Man Utd)

United have finally started clearing out the players that have struggled for years, and Erik ten Hag has clearly been underwhelmed by Anthony Martial’s performances, or perhaps more by his lack of fitness.

The 27-year-old has the technique and pace to succeed when he is fully fit, and with 23 goals in the 2019/20 season, he has an eye for goal when the mood takes him and he can rely on his body not to let him down.

If United are willing to let him leave for a reasonable price, then he might be brought in as an extra option.

Former Chelsea winger Pat Nevin also has a surprising suggestion to step in – you can read more on that here.
