5 Strikers Chelsea Could Target in The Summer Transfer Window

  • 5 Strikers Chelsea Could Target in The Summer Transfer Window

Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday highlighted their biggest flaw more than any other game in Graham Potter’s tenure.

Despite spending more than £600 million over the past two Transfer windows, the Blues lack an out-and-out goalscorer.

Armando Broja is out for the season with an ACL injury, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was removed from the Champions League squad as a result of his poor form.

New signing David Datro Fofana was also left out of the squad in favour of high-profile players Mykhailo Mudryk, Enzo Fernandez and Joao Felix – although he is too inexperienced to be the answer, anyway.

That meant Kai Havertz lined up as Chelsea’s striker in the biggest game of their season to date. And, unsurprisingly, he did not score.

Neither did Felix, who had three good chances to do so, Kalidou Koulibaly with a half volleyed effort or Reece James from a well-taken free-kick.

Clearly, the Blues could do with some of their existing players stepping up to the plate more often, but a consistent goalscorer would help tremendously.

5. Kylian Mbappe ( PSG)

Kylian Mbappe is the dream signing.

It has been reported that Chelsea’s new owners are not content with their over record-breaking spending in the transfer market.

There have been reports that they want to sign a superstar in the near future and the Paris Saint-Germain and France forward is exactly that.

However, Mbappe turned down Real Madrid last Summer, so the chances of him fancying a move to Stamford Bridge are incredibly slim.

4. Harry Kane (Tottenham )

Another ambitious target is Harry Kane. Spurs’ record goalscorer could want out of the north London club in the summer but it seems highly unlikely that they would consider selling to Chelsea.

Putting his love for Tottenham to one side, this would be the perfect move for Kane. He could stay in the London area while competing for trophies at England’s most successful club in the 21st century.

The Blues could try to seal a deal by outbidding their competitors but even then it probably wouldn’t be enough; Spurs fans would riot if this deal went through.

3. Ivan Toney (Brentford )

Ivan Toney has followed up on an impressive debut Premier League campaign with a remarkable 2022-23 season to date.

The 26-year-old has scored 14 goals in 20 league games for Brentford, who are on course for a superb top-half finish under Thomas Frank.

Likened to Chelsea legend Didier Drogba, Toney has the pace, power and personality to make him a big hit for the west London club.

2. Dusan Vlahovic (Juventus )

The Serbia international added seven more for the Bianconeri in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign and has eight in 13 league appearances this season.

But despite his impressive goalscoring record, Juventus are not in a position to compete for major honours due to their financial struggles, so he could be on his way out this summer after just 18 months in Turin.

1. Victor Osimhen (Napoli)

Victor Osimhen should be Chelsea’s number one transfer target in the summer window – of all positions.

Napoli are the best team in Italy, arguably Europe, and the Nigerian is their best player.

There’s more to Osimhen’s game than just goals but 17 in 17 Serie A starts tells you everything you need to know about why Chelsea should be desperately trying to sign him.

The Blues will face competition from across Europe but Todd Boehly will surely be tempted make a huge statement with this one.
