Raja Gidh is a phenomenal novel by Bano Qudsia. One of the most favourite novels in her writing journey. Raja means king and Gidh means Vulture.

Bano Qudsia was a Pakistani novelist, playwright, and spiritualist. She is well known for books, dramas, plays, and short stories. Most people are familiar with Qudsia from her Book Raja Gidh. She also wrote in Urdu and Punjabi for television and the stage. Her most familiar works are Aik Din, Asay Pasay, Chahar Chaman, Chhotaa Sheher Baray Log, Footpath ki Ghaas, Haasil Ghaat and Hawa Kay Naam. Her famous plays include Tamasil, Hawa kay Naam, Seharay and Khaleej.

Raja Gidh Novel Summary

The central premise of the book is an extraordinary journey to discover some questions based on life. Bano Qudsiya examines stages of human development in an effort to uncover the solutions. The novel explores that Love is fruitless, Curiosity that knows no bounds, Illegal Earnings, and Knowing that death is coming.

 The primary character of the book is a middle-class man from a village, Qayyum. He falls in love with Seemi at the university and Seemi loves another classmate Aftab. Seemi went through, experienced, and examined all four stages of life. The theological concepts of Halaal and Haraam are also brought to the reader's notice in Bono Qudsiya's book.

The novel is worth reading one of the best works in Urdu literature. If you like reading sociology, philosophy, and religion altogether in the form of a novel then you must read Raja Gidh.
