Welcome to LATINA’s weekly roundup of the best new Music. This week’s list includes the return of Goyo, Kali Uchis’ beautiful bolero, and Anitta’s melodic love song.

Goyo, “Tumbao”

Goyo is back and stronger than ever with her new single “Tumbao.” The Colombian superstar seemingly pulls inspiration from Celia Cruz’s timeless classic “La Negra Tiene Tumbao.” In her own empowering anthem, Goyo blends reggaeton beats with funky rhythms. She sings tapping into her own “tumbao” to become the fierce solo artist that she is today. “The ‘tumbao’ symbolizes that inner strength we all possess,” Goyo told LATINA. “It’s a reminder that, armed with determination, there are no barriers we can’t shatter.” The song will be included on her upcoming album La Pantera.

Kali Uchis, “Te Mata”

Kali Uchis is upping the melodrama with her new single “Te Mata.” The Colombian-American superstar embraces bolero in the beautiful Spanish ballad. Uchis sings about becoming the villain of a toxic relationship as a way to leave it behind for good. On Instagram, she added, “I wrote this song about freeing yourself and [I] was inspired by experiences I had growing up, finding my wings, and learning to walk away from what life was in order to step into the life I wanted.” The song will be included on Uchis’ upcoming album Orquídeas, which will be released on January 12, 2024.

Anitta, “Mil Veces”

Anitta continues to push the music of her country to new places. The Brazilian superstar helped globalize funk carioca with her last EP Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story. Now she is embracing the melodic funk subgenre in her alluring single “Mil Veces.” Anitta sings about a tumultuous relationship that keeps pulling her back in. “I love the attractive pop notes of its lyrics, which talk about a relationship that wasn’t meant to last but continues on and on, experiencing ups and downs,” she said in a statement. Anitta shares steamy moments with Måneskin singer Damiano David in the music video.

Maluma, “Procura”

Maluma is making a major revelation in his new music video for “Procura.” The Colombian superstar revealed that he is expecting a baby girl named Paris with his girlfriend Susana Gomez. In the bachata-infused love song, Maluma sings about still being in love with a woman who is now seeing someone else. Gomez, who is a Colombian entrepreneur, is the star of the sweet video, which shows the couple getting emotional about her pregnancy. “Procura” is from Maluma’s latest album Don Juan, which was released in August.

Willie Gomez, “Que Más Me Da”

Dominican-American singer Willie Gomez went viral for his audition on The Voice earlier this month. After singing Manuel Turizo’s “La Bachata,” his performance led to all four judges turning their chairs. Gomez is currently competing on the show in John Legend’s team. Gomez, who was a former background dancer for Britney Spears, told LATINA last year, “You don’t have to stay in one lane or one box. We can do whatever we want as long as we put in 150 percent of ourselves.” Gomez dropped his La Vida Disco Pack EP, which includes his feel-good dance track “Que Más Me Da.”

Bodine, “Lo Nuestro”

Bodine is pushing the limits of Latin music with her music. She was born in Amsterdam and grew up in Puerto Rico, so her genre-bending songs reflect her multicultural heritage. With her new single “Lo Nuestro,” Bodine seamlessly blends elements of R&B, trap, and reggaeton music. In the sensual club banger, she sings in Spanglish about a relationship needing more than good sex to survive. “I’m happy to release new music and very proud of the version of the song my team and I created,” Bodine told LATINA. “Get ready to move your bodies.”

Daniel Noah Miller, “Typical”

After breaking through with Lewis Del Mar in 2016, Daniel Noah Miller is making waves with his solo project. The Nicaraguan-American singer released his first single under his own name last month with ethereal “Otherway.” Now, Miller continues to set himself apart from what’s going on in today’s music industry with the multi-layered and hypnotic single “Typical.” The experimental song shows Miller highlighting the importance of looking inward. “I think that moments of meaningful breakthroughs in our self-reflection are somewhat rare, and thus it felt right to make this tune an outlier [on my upcoming album],” Miller shared in a statement.

Fuerza Regida and Maria Becerra, “Pradax”

Fuerza Regida released a new album with a whopping 30 tracks. Pa Las Baby’s y Belikeada includes the Mexican-American band’s collaborations with artists like Argentina’s Maria Becerra, Colombia’s Manuel Turizo, and American DJ Marshmello. Becerra explores the corridos tumbados genre for the first time in the captivating duet “Pradax.” Turizo sings about drowning his sorrows from a breakup in alcohol in the heart-wrenching “Una Cerveza.” Fuerza Regida dabbles in EDM with “compa” Marshmello in “Harley Quinn,” which blends corridos with house music. That’s only the tip of the iceberg in Fuerza Regida’s most ambitious album yet.
