New Music Picks: Kenia Os, Selena Gomez, Omar Apollo, and More

Welcome to LATINA’s weekly roundup of the best new Music. This week’s list includes the return of Selena Gomez, the latest Latin pop bop from Kenia Os, and Omar Apollo’s ode to his coming out story.

Also on the list: the emergence of Mexican act Latin Mafia, Feid’s feel-good Song, and the debut of CNCO’s Zabdiel as a solo artist. Plus, Myke Towers’ end-of-the-summer romp and Los Ángeles Azules’ dreamy collaboration with María Becerra.

Kenia Os, “Lovelove U”

Kenia Os is back with her new single “Lovelove U.” This past year, she positioned as one of Mexico’s biggest pop stars with her album K23, which boasted the global hit “Malas Decisiones.” She teamed up the man behind that song, JonTheProducer, for her latest release. In the flirty Latin pop romp, Os sings about riding the waves of an on-and-off romance. The disco-infused song is a preview of what is to come from the next era in her music career.

Selena Gomez, “Single Soon”

Selena Gomez has made a triumphant comeback to music with “Single Soon.” The Mexican-American pop star comes through with a feel-good anthem about life following a breakup. In the glowing dance track, Gomez sings about regaining her independence and loving it. “It’s a playful anthem about being comfortable in your own skin and loving your own company, and it’s also really fun to dance to!” she shared in a statement on Twitter. The song is Gomez’s gift to her fans while she continues to work on her next album.

Omar Apollo, “Ice Slippin”

Omar Apollo is getting introspective on his new single. The rising Mexican-American star sings about his coming experience in the emotional track “Ice Slipping.” Classical music collides with hip-hop beats as Apollo relieves that moment of processing of his family’s reaction. He channels that difficult time into one of his most beautifully ambitious pieces of music. The song will be included on Apollo’s upcoming EP Live For Me, which will be released on October 6.

Feid and ICON, “FERXXO 151”

After establishing himself as one of the 10 most-streamed artists in the world, Feid is basking in his success with his new single. The Colombian superstar teamed up with his longtime producers ICON for “FERXXO 151.” The nostalgic reggaeton that Feid is known for is pushed into the future with elements of house music. He sings about living large with his lover by his side. The alluring song will be included on Feid’s upcoming album Mor No Le Temas A La Oscuridad, which will be released on September 29.

Latin Mafia, “Julietota”

Latin Mafia is one of Mexico’s most exciting acts on the rise. The trio includes brothers Emilio, Milton, and Mike de La Rosa. Thanks to their genre-bending sound, they have shown there’s no limits to their music that has won over a legion of fans. After teasing a bit of reggaeton at the end of “Julieta,” Latin Mafia finally unleashed the full perreo intenso with the freaky “Julieota.” The swaggering and sexy song ends on a sobering R&B note. “Our thing is we’re just having fun making music,” Emilio told LATINA. “You can see that in this extended version of ‘Julieta.’”

Zabdiel and Ana Mena, “Aventura”

With CNCO coming to an end soon, Zabdiel is getting ready to spread his wings. The Puerto Rican singer released his debut solo single “Aventura.” Zabdiel teamed up with Spanish pop star Ana Mena for his breezy bachata track that revisits the classic “Tengo Un Amor” by Toby Luv. “I remember that Toby Love song, it was huge when I was a kid,” he tells LATINA. “I want to replicate that feeling in people who are listening to my song.”

Myke Towers, “Bajo El Sol”

Myke Towers is capitalizing off the success of his global hit “Lala.” To follow that up, the Puerto Rican superstar released his new single “Bajo El Sol.” Backed by a hard-hitting trap beat, Towers reminds people that he is one of the top Latino rappers out there today. Though summer is coming to an end soon, he lets it be known that he is still down for some beachside flings with his slick rhymes. Towers’ La Vida Es Una Tour kicks off in the U.S. on October 8 in Chicago.

Los Ángeles Azules and María Becerra, “El Amor De Mi Vida”

After having made a few cumbias throughout her career, María Becerra has teamed up with one of the genre’s most important acts. Los Ángeles Azules enlisted her for their collaboration “El Amor De Mi Vida.” Becerra turns up the heat on the Mexican band’s sexy cumbia track where she sings about walking the fine line between lust and love. To give the song a more personal touch, Becerra’s family appears in the music video alongside her and Los Ángeles Azules.
