Celebrity attendees at the Golden Globes 2023 tested positive days after the Award ceremony. According to the BBC, a number of celebrities, including Collin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Michelle Pfeiffer, announced that they had tested positive for Covid-19 days after the awards ceremony.
The condition of Covid-19 tests was put up for entry in the recently aired award show Critics Choice Awards. Due to the virus, some celebrities took to social media to express their inability to attend the ceremony. "I'm so sorry to miss the Critics Choice Awards today," Pfeiffer wrote on Instagram. "Indeed, Covid."

The Scarface star was supposed to present actor Jeff Bridges with a Lifetime Achievement award, but John Goodman took his place. Curtis also expressed her displeasure, saying, "Unfortunately, this head cheerleader will not be present at all of the weekend festivities to support her friends and colleagues. Life on its own terms."

Furthermore, according to a THR report, coronavirus safety precautions, such as testing, vaccination, and mask requirements, have been inconsistent this awards season. The recent woes of Hollywood's award-show elite did not surprise public health experts.
"This is not surprising," said Dr. John Brownstein, an epidemiologist and the chief innovation officer at Boston Children's Hospital. "You have indoor gatherings during a time when there is a lot of virus circulating, whether it's cold or flu, and proximity without masking... you're going to have active virus transmission."
