Blasphemy of Holy Quran at Jarranwala, Muslims protest and burn the Churches and home of Christian, Government in action, hundreds protester arrested

Blasphemy of Holy Qurean at Jarranwala, District Faisalabad.

On August 16, 2023, a mob of Muslims burned a church in Jarranwala, Faisalabad, Pakistan, after allegations of blasphemy against the Holy Quran. The Muslims also attacked the homes of Christians in the area.

The incident began when a man was accused of tearing a page from the Quran over right arrogance words and throwing it in the trash. The man was arrested by the police, but the Muslims was not satisfied. They set fire to the church and damaged several other Christian-owned businesses and homes.

The government has condemned the attack and promised to bring the perpetrators to justice. However, this is not the first time that a blasphemy committed in Pakistan and church has been attacked in Pakistan over allegations of blasphemy. In recent years, there have been a number of such attacks, often resulting in the deaths of Christians.

The blasphemy laws in Pakistan are widely criticized for being discriminatory and for promoting Religious intolerance. These laws have been used to target Religious Minorities, including Christians, Ahmadis, and Shia Muslims.

The attack on the church in Jarranwala is a reminder of the dangers faced by religious minorities in Pakistan. The government must take steps to protect these minorities and to ensure that they can live in peace and security.

Here are some of the things that the government can do to protect religious minorities in Pakistan:

·         Reform the blasphemy laws to make them more specific and to ensure that they are not used to target religious minorities.

·         Establish a mechanism for impartially investigating allegations of blasphemy.

·         Provide adequate security for religious minorities.

·         Promote interfaith dialogue and understanding.

The government must take action to address the root causes of religious intolerance in Pakistan. This includes addressing poverty, illiteracy, and unemployment, which can all contribute to extremism. The government must also promote a culture of tolerance and respect for diversity.

The attack on the church in Jarranwala is a tragedy, but it is also an opportunity for the government to take action to protect religious minorities and to promote religious tolerance in Pakistan.
