CBD is widely known as a natural remedy for various health disorders including stress, anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, depression, etc.  But based on the current body of evidence, we cannot say that CBD is effective in treating depression.  Nevertheless, anecdotal evidence, although few and far between, suggests that CBD interacts with the endocannabinoid system to suppress immune activity on anxiety and depression, thereby relieving both.

Cannabidiol—a chemical compound found naturally in the hemp plant—is a promising treatment for its ability to help relieve anxiety disorders.  CBD does not cause a feeling of intoxication or a high feeling as in the case of tetrahydrocannabinol.  The human body has many different receptors—protein-based chemical structures that bind to cells.  These receptors receive signals from various stimuli.

During the day, it can be taken frequently to help with bowel movements.  Anxiety symptoms.  This is the first thing one should do when the mind starts racing.  Thus it also helps in chronic pain.  In a day, one can take up to 50 mg of CBD oil.  The maximum daily intake should be around 70 to 100 mg of CBD oil.  However, this depends on the level of anxiety one experiences on the day.  Sublingual CBD oils are more important in reducing anxiety in people who have difficulty swallowing capsules and cannot take gums.

The oils don't taste like weed, which may deter other people from taking them.  Some oils in the market are mixed with other ingredients such as peppermint.  This helps dial back unpleasant flavors.  Sublingual oil is taken as a liquid under the tongue or mixed with a drink, such as a favorite tea.  CBD can also be mixed into capsules or rubbed under the skin.

 Foods to Fight Anxiety

CBD can be used to treat gum problems.  Two to three tablets can be taken in the morning and at night before going to bed.  Taking CBD this way is easy.  It does not seem to ring a bell even during everyday activities such as business or communicating with staff members.

Because CBD gummies are discreet, one can take them in any environment, even a professional environment, and no one will ask you about it.  However, it's important to note that CBD gummies are not fast-acting.  It may not be the right choice for anxiety attacks or any other severe conditions.

 CBD oil and depression

Cannabidiol can help alleviate depression by altering serotonin levels in the brain.  CBD products that contain higher levels of CBD and lower levels of THC are more effective in treating depression.  CBD has advantages over antidepressant medications.  Most antidepressants can take weeks to start working.  But CBD oil products are faster and have more lasting effects like antidepressants.

CBD's potential benefits for depression are related to its positive effects on serotonin receptors in the brain.  Low levels of serotonin lead to depression.  CBD can affect how the brain's chemical receptors respond to serotonin already in the body's system.  It does not necessarily increase serotonin levels.

CBD's effect on receptors in the brain produces both antidepressant and antianxiety effects.  Because CBD has anti-stress effects, it has the potential to reduce depression related to stressful events.  Depression and anxiety often occur together.  If someone has an anxiety disorder, they are likely to suffer from depression as well.  If someone suffers from depression, there is a high probability that the person will also suffer from anxiety.  When CBD was taken at a dose of 600 mg per day, people who took a placebo experienced a significant reduction in anxiety and depression.

Side effects of CBD as a treatment for anxiety and depression

Although CBD oil helps alleviate depression, there are other risks involved when it is used.  However, the side effects of CBD are not many although some people may be sensitive and experience it.  Diarrhea, fatigue, or even changes in weight and appetite.  A dose of CBD-rich hemp extract can cause liver toxicity.  It is also difficult to know the causes of any long-term side effects of CBD.  The World Health Organization has proven and concluded that CBD is generally safe.  Interactions between CBD and other medications can cause adverse effects.

Consulting with health care providers helps reduce the risk of CBD side effects.  Buying over-the-counter CBD for prescription or over-the-counter medications or herbal supplements is essentially putting your life at greater risk from the side effects of CBD.
